Steven Benen: “The RNC’s homepage has two pictures of Hillary Clinton, but zero of Trump. Click on the ‘View All Articles’ link for the latest RNC blog posts and press releases, and you’ll find plenty of content, but of the top 20 items, 19 attacked Hillary Clinton, while one attacked President Obama. Here, too, there wasn’t a single Trump mention.”

“If you didn’t know anything about politics and you stumbled onto the RNC’s site, you might think the election were some kind of referendum on whether or not Clinton deserves support, rather than a choice between competing candidates.”

That is hilarious. Even among the party of the crazies they can't find someone that all the crazies can get behind.

The problem for the GOP is not Trump...the problem is that close to 30 percent or more of the GOP base has been literally brain fried by years of huffing volatile hydrocarbons spewing from Fox news and "Hate Radio" ...that GOP base group does not believe in Science or in evolution or in reason and logic...they are pure emotion ready for the first sharp charlatan to take them ...and Trump did just that ............

Think about Jade Helms...the wing nuts thought that Obama was using Military exercises to invade Texas...did just a group of far out wing nuts believe this ?...no the Texas GOP Governor lent it credence...

White christian party wars

A Colorado delegate bound to Cruz who will serve on the GOP Rules Committee told ABC News that she plans to introduce a clause that would allow delegates to vote their conscience.

"All I'm doing is adapting to the circumstances," Kendal Unruh told ABC. "I certainly believe Trump's demagogic racist comments are hurting him."

So much for your intellectual high ground.

That is their real problem this time around though, con-radio has been talking about how 35% of Republicans won trump the nomination but 65% don't like him. Which will translate to the general election.

Con-radio and Faux News have done their job well in creating this frankenstein that is now wrecking the lab.

I do question any post talking about "buyers remorse" with Trump when he has not even been elected president yet. It's hard to be remorseful about buying a new car if you didn't even drive it off the lot yet.

Well then maybe you should read better. The "buyer's remorse" I was talking about was how people voted in the primaries but have since changed their mind BEFORE the convention even.

Even if republican party bosses managed to get the rules changed, and nominate someone other than Trump, the resulting revolt by Trump supporters would split the party so badly that whomever the nominee is, he couldn’t win.

What if it wasn't the republican party bosses but instead the delegates themselves who voted Trump out? No rules need to be changed to free the delegates to vote as times-changin' rapidly (thanks to Trump, his own worst enemy) dictate. "Buyer's remorse" is setting in, in the various states who didn't have enough information about one-trick Trump. Now that they've seen his tantrums for months on end, literally unchanging and demonstrating a real problem with self-control, people are backing away and wishing they'd voted differently in the primaries.

all these people who think they know what's going to happen at the GOP convention, but the thing is, it doesn't really matter what happens they've already decided on the narrative they're going to tell themselves. and this is the problem with the political system of america, it's called mass hysteria, and it's dangerous.

Bonus Quote of the Day

“These things are personal. I love this country. I love the founders, I love what this country is built upon and its values, and seeing this is breaking my heart, for the party that means so much.”

— Mitt Romney, quoted by ABC News, “choking up and blinking back tears” explaining why he cannot back Donald Trump for president.

Having a handful of highly placed people express remorse does not mean the 10 million people who voted for Trump do not still want him. A move like this by the GOP leadership will hand the election to Hillary on a silver platter.

The complaint seems to be that he doesn't serve the republican base. Well the base can't get a president elected.

No..the complaint seems to be that Trump cannot control his impulsive behaviors and now he's tied down to a teleprompter, acting like a drugged robot on tie-downs, seething and squirming in a straight jacket. This is spooking the herd even more. He's cowing down to the establishment. And even they can recognize this as a preview of exactly that.

Sometimes his face turns purple and it looks like his eyes are going to bug out of their sockets. On the teleprompter it looked like he was sedated. Not drunk, he wasn't slurring. Just knocked back a bit by ???
