AND So, It Begins.... WINTER 2022-23

Actually it is still summer. The autumn equinox isn't until September 22. And the beginning of the 2022-2023 winter is over 3 months away.

The thread title makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
It is what's happening in the real world where hoaxes like global warming aren't treated as real science.

IF 60 is young... :smoke: I was probably a little young to remember this event.

Yeah, you're just a punk kid who doesn't remember anything ... like waiting in line for three hours to buy 5 gallons of gas ... or listening to Jimmy Carter ... back before Big Oil sold out the American economy to the Saudis ... [giggle] ...

It's only been a "long time" when we think in human terms ... for climate study using 100-year averages, this is the part of the white noise we're trying to average out ... as it is irrelevant to climate, when studied at 100-year intervals ...

If this is a 50-year event ... then the actuaries have already included the costs in our insurance premiums ... capitalism at it's finest ...

Its been a real long time since someone called me a punk kid.. But you are correct about human life span and it not being long enough to see the climatic cycles. As for the waiting in line for gas in the 70's... That shit sucked.. Having to go get free government cheese/food or go hungry sucked too.. Carter sucked, but Biden is sucking way worse.

A massive polar low is wreaking destruction on Alaska... And it's headed to the US...

Wind patterns show this will descend on Canada and the Western US in the coming days.

Part of what is expected from AGW is destabilization of the jetstream causing more polar "vortices" to dip down into the Lower 48.

What's the proper number of "vortices"?
How many can be blamed on Exxon, cursed be their name?

Why do you guys always ask such stupid questions? Surely you must know that what we are talking about is CHANGE, not absolute values.

Man, I wish at some point you would have wandered into a math class.

How many can be blamed on Exxon, cursed be their name?

Why are you stupid?

Why are you stupid?

Why do you guys always ask such stupid questions?

How else are we going to get stupid liberals to give more info about their stupid claims?

Surely you must know that what we are talking about is CHANGE, not absolute values.

Allow me to rephrase.

What's the proper number of "vortices"?
How much of the CHANGE can be blamed on Exxon, cursed be their name?

Change, not absolute values, that's why you said more. DURR

You aren't very smart, are you?

Epic fail.. This behavior is seen every 10-15 years. This is not new and has happened many times before. It will continue to happen long after we are gone.

Please explain your destabilization hypothesis and how you determined the natural variation and cyclical climatic behavior are not the cause.

This is a pant load of BS..

The power of the polar jet is caused by temperature imbalance. More precisely the thermal gradient. The air mass above the poles, in the mid troposphere is colder than it has been in about 450 years (since the little ice age). This means the heat is being released above the poles very quickly. This thermal gradient then drives the polar jet making it more powerful. The Lows generated are bigger and much more powerful. This increased power causes the polar jet to intrude on the median or Equitorial jet..

Your cause/effect is a load of horse manure.

We can also see the reduced solar input over the equator and the reduced size of the Equitorial jet as well. This further allows the polar jet to dip into the equator and facilitating the moving of heat to the poles rapidly to try and offset the heat loss. This creates a paradoxical warming of the surface but does nothing to change the mid tropospheric cooling. This further drives the polar jet in its power and allows more massive polar lows to form.

Yes, the earth is a paradoxically presenting system when it comes to the polar regions.

Do the math and follow the energy distribution within our atmosphere.

More like 5-10 years ... a polar vortex subsumed the entirety of Texas in February 2021 ... and of course infamously when we launched Space Shuttle Challenger ...

Arctic Amplification is currently lowering the power input ... and this has been shown to slow the synoptic time scale a bit, the propagation of Rossby Waves, like a couple hours or so, barely measurable ... but that doesn't effect our climate averages ... any increase in amplitude of the Rossby waves has been shown to only occur at the peaks, not the troughs ... and the reasons for this are unknown as far as I know, or knew in the 1970's ... [giggle] ... and that just means places above the Arctic Circle will have a warm day or two extra, per year, in the future ...

Bad weather is a part of everybody's climate ... no changes are needed to explain weather today, or in the future ... and everybody knows it ... so that's why we're burning coal to keep the internet running ...
