And Then They Came For Your Guns: Holder Wants 'Smart Gun' Bracelets...

...and adding complicated electronics to them make them that much more reliable. Good thinking Maxie.

It's a good idea to make guns safer for the user and his family. You could, for example, scan the gun every morning when you get up so it works for that day. But if it's stolen, the bad apples couldn't use it after that first day, Also, if you were to only scan it when you needed the gun, the scan could prevent little johnny from finding the gun and shooting his friend or sister with, which has happened enough times already.

But like I said, unstable people like you will never want there to be less children shooting each other, so I'm again talking about normal people.
You're talking out of your ass and digging a deeper hole won't disguise it.

To be fair if someone wants to get a finger print lock or a dumb ass rfid lock, it's a free country go for it. Just don't try to force the rest of us to do it.

Jeez if he even has a gun he's probably never fired it. Why do you keep arguing with this idiot? They just go wound and round. It's like the court scene from True Grit.

Is this the 5th annual "they are coming for your guns, foreal this time" thread?

It is foreal. You Communist Globalists are coming for the guns. You're just doing it by way of the 'Death by a Thousand Cuts' approach. But the People are catching on. I'm very confident Freedom and the Constitution will win out.

Lets put real money on it.

Say $10,000.

You in?

Just think of it like a seatbelt, it's the law and could possibly save your life. And after a while, everyone has accepted seat belts.

No, it's more like requiring an RFID tag to use your seat belt. And after a while, everyone figures out how to disable the dumb ass government mandated RFID locking device.

I think finger print scanning sounds like a decent idea.

Yes, When the bad guys show up, I can fumble with my gun safe combination, look for the key to the trigger lock, attempt to load the gun, all while being scared to death, and then hope that the electronics work, and the battery has not gone dead. Rack up another one for the bad guys. But, maybe the cops will catch them, and maybe they might go to jail, if some asshole judge doesn't think they murdered me because they had a bad upbringing, and turn them back into society.

Sorry, twinkles. I will worry about my gun safety, and the safety of my family, and that does not include any liberal/socialist complications to my ability for defense of myself and my family.

Your gun wouldn't need to be in a safe, because it wouldn't fire until you did the scan, so kids finding it, even loaded, wouldn't hurt themselves or someone else. The gun could even be sitting in a charger fully loaded, all you do is grab it and scan it and it'll work. Much faster than opening a safe, or going looking for ammo...
Rule #1: Never trust the mechanical safety on your firearm.
Your line of thought, above, just killed a bunch of kids. Good work.

Until they dsable the interface, unlocking the gun. This all boils down to a fancy trgigger lock, with all of its shortcomings.

There is no merit to this idea, especially in that >300,000,000 guns do not have said interface.

Perfectly stated. Thanks.

And Then They Came For Your Guns: Holder Wants 'Smart Gun' Bracelets...
Another rightwing lie exposed, and the OP proven again to in fact be a liar:

Holder was talking about things like the Gun Box, a storage device for firearms that can only be opened when the owner passes a radio frequency ID (RFID) chip over it, the sort of thing in your credit cards that lets you tap instead of swiping. The Gun Box embeds its RFID chip in a bracelet. Need your gun? Wave your hand over your storage box and it opens — but your kids and criminals can't gain access.

There's no tracking in what Holder referred to, unless you're worried about being tracked by your gun.

Over the course of the week, the Holder-wants-to-track-your-guns meme started to take off.

You just showed the stupidity of your side's argument. Why would anyone want to disable their seat belt? :cuckoo:
And why would any sane person argue against making guns safer?

Hello, libtard.

Requiring an RFID tag to use your seat belt, means you can't use the damn thing unless you have the RFID tag. It does not mean the RFID tag disables the seat belt. It means the dumb ass feds put a dumb ass lock that stops use of the seat belt, the same as a dumb ass lock the feds want to put on guns to stop use of the guns. Guns and seat belts are similar devices, as they are both used to protect the owner. Why an owner would be happy about government stopping them from using their devices, is the entire point of my side.

Putting a lock on guns does not make the gun safer, it makes it harder to use. Just as putting a lock on seat belts would not make them safer, it would just make them harder to use.

things fail

there is nothing more dangerous then an unloaded firearm

or one where the safety was on

i will stick with my non electronic firearms

My Model 29 never has. Granted, it has only had about 400,000 rounds fired through it, but it has never jammed.

This has to be the dumbest idea in the history of dumb ideas.

RFID tags can be easily copied. Translation: Using very inexpensive parts the bad guys and cops could scan your RFID, copy the response, then use the copy to take ownership and use of your gun.

Can't an iPhone do that now?

I'm going to throw this question out again, because it's something I don't understand:

Why would anyone be against making anything, especially a gun, safer? And if your position is that what's being proposed won't make a gun safer, then what will, and what would you be actually willing to try or do about it?

My guns are safe. None have gone on a killing spree or fired unintentionally. I don't know what the fuck you are babbling about.

Sure, not everyone gets into a car accident, but safeguards are still there for everyone because accidents do happen. So since you know that accidents with guns DO happen, why are you against making them safer? And what would you see possibly working?

Most accidents with cars and guns are acts of negligence, not mechanical failures. People use the word accident to shift blame. People are safe from my guns but I'm not safe from everyone's automobile. I'd much rather see an emphasis put on getting idiots off the road. That will save many more lives that rendering guns inoperable in order to make you feel good.
