A strong enough deterrent works every time it's tried. You will not reduce rapes in your country if raping a woman is a $500.00 fine, and you will not reduce murders in your country if murder carries a six month prison sentence.

I've always said that if we passed a law that anybody caught here illegally faced a five year minimum prison sentence, there would be no need for a wall. Nobody would be stupid enough to stay here and risk five years of their life.
