Ask A Prepper...

We are the Lion in the Wizard of Oz! :)

if you have any symptoms, you should get tested... just so you can self quarantine yourself, and not infect the vulnerable, and end up killing them....imo.
(the gvt has got all the data they need on you already... )

Well. In my line of work, I've had dozens of Federal background checks over the years. Been escorted through buildings by men with machine guns. I could tell you all about it, but...you know. And I get blood work done monthly. That's all voluntary, though.

It's the involuntary stuff that rubs me the wrong way. I mean government mandated curfews? Come on. That's just a power grab to see if they can get away with it.

Could be.... maybe not this time, maybe it is needed? But you can be near darn sure someone as leader down the road will abuse it, and this will be the slippery slope that they use to justify it....

But honestly, it's just awful going through life, always thinking the worst or always having to think the worst... :(

Exactly. That's all I'm trying to say, C.

It amazes me that even with what we're seeing going on across the nation right now people still try and bash preppers. Nobody thinks you're nuts for having a first aid kit in your house, but heaven forbid you have an emergency supply of food, water, or hygiene products. I've been prepping for years. Know what I had to do when this shit started?

Not a damn thing.

While we’re all aware of the current inconveniences imposed upon us by the Wuhan virus; many of you may be unaware of what to do, to alleviate the stresses caused by this panic.
So if you find yourself in the category of being unprepared, those of us who are prepared may be able to answer some questions you may have. And once this blows over you may be able to use what you have learned from this experience, to avoid these hardships the next time around.
So... Ask a prepper.
Preppers are weirdos. I would advise everyone to avoid listening to their paranoid delusions.
so I guess you will be cancelling the insurance on your house and removing all fire extinguishers form it as well???
Prepping to go weeks or months without food is nutty.

Why? Just because you personally haven't gone through an emergency type of situation doesn't mean it doesn't happen (it does) or that it will never happen to you. You can't rely on the government to always "come to the rescue" in a s***t hits the fan event, and one shouldn't anyway. Life isn't always smooth sailing, as you seem to think it is.

Why?
Because that has never been an issue for my entire life.

Normalcy bias. Google it.

Since pasta is a mainstay of prepping...think pasta salad

Everybody thinks spaghetti and Mac & cheese...but there are MANY different types of pasta salad & all are delish!

Take it a step farther. Plant a Spaghetti Tree.

So, because it has never happened to you, you think it can never happen to you?

A look through history teaches us that bad times are always just a moment away.
Any event that empties all grocery stores in the US will be so catastrophic that your canned goods wont save you.
Incorrect, but you go ahead and succumb like the rest.

Being prepared for a disaster or an emergency is what intelligent people do.

Not preparing to sustain yourself, and your family is irresponsible, stupid, and dangerous.
Never in my lifetime has food storage been necessary. Its possible that a sniper could target me, but its highly unlikely, therefore i dont wear a bullet proof vest at all times either. That would be just as silly as storing food.
Apparently you haven’t been to the store in the last few days...
I was at my local grocery store on Friday. All was normal, as usual. You cant find Purell, but thats about it.
Cool story.
I went to the grocery store today. There is still plenty of food. :dunno:

Sure chief. Sure there is.

if anything that only proves that because so many prepped ahead of time and didnt over burden the system which resulted in more things on the shelves for others that didnt,,,

If there was a food shortage here, why would i be mocking you for being paranoid? Im in King County Washington by the way, which is the epicenter of the virus in the US. We have plenty of food.

Because you’re lying, scared, and desperate for attention. Pretty simple really...

I'm not a prepper but in cases like this, preppers seems to be the most rational ones! :2up:

I don't consider myself a prepper, rather little lazy to go to store often. There is always enough food at home for four of us for a month, and when I go grocery shopping, I restock enough to cover me for another month. We like to go to restaurants, but we also cook at home too.

When this virus started spreading in China, and before it reached Europe and US, I increased the stock for two month, just in case. It turned out I was right, since I don't have to worry about necessities. Yesterday morning, I went to store, bought two dozens of eggs, and two gallons of milk, and some fruit that will last for a week to 10 days. When that runs out, I'll go get it again.
