How in the world can anyone keep a straight face while saying we need more guns?
No one is scared of huffie puffie. It's the disinformation and facetious information that most people detest

This is wrong. It's not up to us to make decisions for county school districts nationwide.
And if you privatize it, then why not make it a mentally handicap person who is holding that weapon, "protecting" those children? What makes you think some tattooed drug using/smoking/alcoholic person who just barely got by in licensing and makes minimum wage will do any good?

Well, armed guards, MPs and soldiers didn't help much at Ft Hood.

And, of course, there was an armed guard at Columbine.

This whole thing is a publicity stunt from LaPierre. Its too stupid to ever get off the ground but if it does, the gun nuts should pay the bill.

They should also have to pay the hospital and funeral bills for all the shootings. If they were held responsible for their damage, you can bet they'd start to look differently on this Gun In Every Pot crap.

The dude shot people before anyone was able to do anything. Almost seconds after, he was shot and killed.

And Many people were shot before the armed guard was able to do anything at Columbine.

Putting guards on campuses won't exactly do much. Nor will increasing controlling laws/bans do much. The mentally ill guy's mother was ultimately at fault since the firearm was not properly secured. If a mentally ill person could get past the security on the gun, ur doing it wrong. So this really wasn't able to be prevented, much.

This ban on assualt and automatic weapons is pointless because those kids were all killed by a semi-auto pistol. While the theater shooting was with an auto weapon, it was modified. 100 round mag.

This is why I think mandatory registration, licensing, and routine checkups are needed for weapons, accessories, and ammo. If a college student buys so much worth of guns and ammo, that should trip a red flag when registering the gun. No more anonymous gun, accessories, or ammo sales. Online sales should not be allowed.

I think we should do the same when they buy alcohol..No more anonymous alcohol buying, they could get in a car and hurt someone

Columbine is a good reminder that assault weapons ban does not work.

There aren't massacres with drunk driving incidents.

Fuck that, let the teachers unions pay for their irrational fear of workplace violence. That make just as much sense as much of the crap the left is pushing. They got all this money available to give to candidates, let them up some bucks for security.

Exactly the response I expected from NaziCons. Thank you.

perhaps the DNC should pony up since they think it's such a great idea

you are welcome

NO, but there are more drunk driving incidents than these "massacres" you speak of..
you people are just hysterical

Incidents, yes.
Can it also be avoided? Yes.

You know why we can't ban or regulate it? Because we can't control when someone drinks it.

Really? If it's not available you can't drink and drive, isn't that the same argument gun control supporters use?

It has not cost a thing to have the schools and police work together.
After Columbine many police departments put school police on school campuses.
It has become part of their job.
Our local school here in Benson has police who patrols the school. They are rotated every 3 months so that they are not stuck just doing the school, but are able to do their regular duties.

Taxing guns and ammo to pay for armed security in schools should be something that conservatives and the NRA would agree to. After all, tobacco is heavily taxed and helps pay for children's healthcare (CHIP).

The problem is, like the tobacco tax, it does NOT go toward it.. it goes into the general fund which gets spent on meth addicts, welfare queens, etc...

Unless the legislation would be written in such a way that it is IRON CLAD that any taxes specifically go to this with any excess LOCKBOXED (and not like a SS lockbox which is phony) is there.. there is no way this should be done

Background:

My daughter lives in Denver with her husband. Two years ago when they moved out there, his first job was in mall security. He has a job that matches his education in IT now. He was invited to the opening of Batman by some of his friends from the prior job. The theater was the one shot up earlier in the year. It prompted some discussions.

Now come the school shootings in Connecticut. They have been gun shopping. I had a conversation with my daughter about gun ownership. She has decided she wants a gun for protection in the home only. She feels that she can use a gun to defend herself or husband in that environment. Out in the public she is worried about hitting someone other than the target.

The son in law is more comfortable carrying in public and will probably take the steps necessary to do that.

We also discussed how regardless of justification, shooting someone will affect you for life. That hesitation can mean the criminal gets your gun and can use it on you.

I have been labeled a gun nut on many threads here. I don't own a gun and this is what we actually talked about in real life. It grew out of personal experience and recent events. I suspect this is the more typical discussion going on in America and not, I gotta get me a Rambo gun.

I find it fascinating that the left cannot have a discussion with those of opposing opinions without attaching some kind of label. Mutters, wing nuts, gun nuts. Extremists, etc etc.

I was briefly able to have reasonable discussion with Jake and Ravi. Told them I appreciated their effort to discuss.

Do you understand WHAT pawns you are?
Every day you idiots that favor BANNING ALL GUNS... make decisions that have been shaped because of advertising.
You idiots are total creatures of classic Pavlovian behavior modification. "Behavior modification" first identified by Pavlov who won the Nobel Prize for physiology in 1904 has been around a long time and you "ban the guns" idiots don't seem to know that!
You make decisions like "ban the guns" based totally on politically driven advertising and media content!

YET you totally discount the role "violence" in movies and video games have triggered especially with totally pliable young minds of 20 years like Lanza! You laugh at the fact these games have molded behavior i.e. like Pavlov's dogs!
YET explain to me why with machine guns available in the early 20th century WHEN there was NOT the violence in Movies and NO video games at that time?

The NRA has been around since 1871... so how come TODAY they are vilified?

The NRA does NOT produce any movies/videos glorifying KILLING people like Tarantino's 'Django Unchained' excessive killings!
Yet the Tarantinos of movie world are glorified AND EVERY ONE of you "ban the gun" idiots support them!!!

Disgusting!!!

I helped raise three above average responsible women. I trust their decision making when emotions are not in the forefront. I suggested a cooling off period before the final purchase decision is made. Even though they are adults, they will usually discuss big things with me before deciding.

We talked about balancing accessibility of the weapon in an emergency versus being too unsecured. This daughter and another who lives in Colorado Springs, are 19 hours by car away from Dad. My response time is frustrating.

If they ban all guns I want the Secret Service not to be able to carry any.

If they ban all guns I want the Capitol Hill Police not to be able to carry them.

Let's make it all even steven.

If joe six pack in America is denied their Second Amendment rights, then all Americans including the President and the Lawmakers have no right to their security forces carrying weapons either.

Fair is fair.

Who's for banning ALL guns? Please provide us with a list.

Who TOTALLY discounts the effects of violent videos and movies? Please provide us with a list.

You say the NRA has been vilified TODAY. Where have you been? They've been vilified plenty in the past.

Once again can you provide us with a list of those who want to ban ALL guns and glorify Quentin Tarantino?

This post FAILS on so many levels. Using an absolute once in a post is foolish. Using them repeatedly augments the foolishness exponentially with each repetition.

I dont support banning guns.

I do support movies and video games being as excessively violent as the artist chooses to render, and if people buy it, then they deserve their success.
