No it wasn't. Religion wasn't very pointedly eliminated from the founding documents. The Founders quite rightly saw that religion was at the root of a LOT of political wars, and deliberately kept religion OUT of government. The Founders believed in a total separation of Church and State, and that religion had a role to play in the nation, but not in government. Religion MUST be kept out of government. They were really clear on that.

Wade), its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), its clergy (public school teachers), its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free), its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland), and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident).
And....Franklin Delano Roosevelt, "...the Socialist Savior of the Democratic Party."

Then, of course, there's the liberal creation myth: Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
For liberals, evolution is the touchstone that separates the enlightened from the benighted.
…the Catechism: you didn't build that.....any success is just dumb luck.

I will admit political chic, when I read the thread title I hoped for a different OP. Nothing wrong with what you posted, it just didn’t match the image in my mind.
