Bad News for Lamar: Tea Partiers Vow to Stand United

The TEA Party has the RINOs in their crosshairs:

Bad News for Lamar: Tea Partiers Vow to Stand United | Pith in the Wind

The tea party settled one question this afternoon at a meeting to audition candidates to challenge Sen. Lamar Alexander in next year’s GOP primary. Both Joe Carr and Kevin Kookogey promised they'll drop out of the picture if tea partiers are rallying behind the other guy.

Carr, a three-term state representative from Murfreesboro, took the pledge in his opening statement to the crowd of roughly 300 at the Sheraton Music City Hotel. It was the first of five meetings to vet potential challengers to Alexander and to conduct secret straw polls. At the end of September, tea partiers will add up the votes and decide which candidate to back. Carr said if it’s not him, he’s out.

We’re all here for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to beat Lamar Alexander for the United States Senate. Before I go any further, I’m going to tell you that this process is so important that we’ve got to unite around one candidate. However this process works out, I pledge to you that I will support that candidate because it’s that important. We as principled constitutional conservatives can no longer allow ourselves to be divided. We need one candidate who can run against Lamar who can win this election and carry the banner of constitutional conservatism to the United States Senate.

You gotta love it when Republicans eat their own then run candidates that have no chance at winning.

BTW....I might take some bets already that the GOP loses the next POTUS election regardless of who runs on either side. If I do are there any takers?
You like to have no responsibility in any of this with no neg reps allowed. You think you can run people off the boards by inciting them to make stupid bets? Right now, we have a lot of omerta oaths going on among DNC strongholds to coerce others into voting Democrat, and no way to stop it. I think the deal should be if you cause someone to get run off this board on principle, you should also give up your membership in advance, Mr. Wolf in sheeps' cloth.

That’s the problem you have. Without him and me and all the rest that are like us you are not moving forward at all. Instead, you will continue to lose election after election and quite frankly very few of us give a damn. Change or watch the GOP die.

You're making two mistakes here, if you don't mind the constructive criticism. First, you're assuming Jake wants the GOP to move forward. Second, you're assuming he wants anything at all - other than to derail threads which discuss/promote a libertarian influence in government with senseless trolling.

The great mistake all of you on the far right, particularly the trolls, is that you are going to have much say about anything in the GOP after the primaries next year.

You are the symbolic coffin watch of the GOP, unaware the party has removed itself from your box.

Either you change with us, or you get left behind to do whatever you want.

You have it backwards.. The GOP is done. They had their chance and took sides with the Dems. They are now irrelevant

-Geaux

:D

Naw, I am well aware this is pointless nor do I really care. I debate with the trolls sometimes to highlight the points for the rest of the board. They are related to the topic at hand and I think that it is quite relevant as many here seem to think that we are irrelevant but then bitch because we cause them to lose elections.

The reality is clear, the GOP can no longer afford to alienate the very people that they are supposed to represent.

I agree.. We need to root them out and assign them to the back bencher democrats they are so compelled to emulate

-Geaux

I don't really care much about the fortunes of the Republican party. If they continue to dismiss liberty in favor of big government authoritarianism, then it is my hope they fall. If Rand Paul and/or the Tea Party can push them to walk the walk when it comes to limited government and sane foreign policy, it could be a very good thing.

I would prefer a new party from scratch and had even hoped for 2 at one point when OWS and the Tea Party were strong but I think I am more resigned to waiting for reform now. It appears that the sheep cannot break from the duopoly that entraps them all so they can assure that they ‘win.’ You know, I never got my Bush prize when he ‘won’ and certainly am lacking my ‘Obama’ prize so I am wondering what I am supposed to be winning?

Subversive, reactionary Jake gleefully cheering the GOP as he wanted it to be: Democrat-lite

Jake the fake idea of a moderate Republican obviously is a democrat considering I have yet to read Jake the fake post one remark against Democrats.

jake is no Republican ..He is left left so far left he is a progressive, which is cute name for Socialist- Communist...He should join the Democrat party or go Independent...I'm going to Independent when I get my new voters registration

I did the same thing 2 years ago. Fired the party I had supported my whole life. Their continued support of the Obama regime made me sick to my stomach.

Exactly. if we keep playing by the 'rules' (i.e. settle for the status quo), we all lose.

I realize the Nolan chart is no less a fabricated abstraction than the existing left/right conceit, but I do think its a useful way to look at what's going on:

NolanChart800x1000.gif

What we're seeing, with the TP and libertarian movements on the 'right' and, more quietly with the OWS and Greenwald liberals on the 'left', is a widespread rejection of the habit of both parties to service an authoritarian agenda. The libertarian quadrant of this chart is woefully under-represented in mainstream politics. In spite of that, one of the more common self-applied political descriptors these days is "socially liberal, fiscally conservative", which, for many, boils down to an essentially libertarian viewpoint.

Republicans have been 'prick-teasing' libertarians since Reagan, but the game is getting old, and the 'hard-line' attitude of the TP movement is, to some degree, an expression of that pent up frustration. Whether it's a futile gesture - as the status quo apologists are hoping - or a harbinger of real change remains to be seen.

Tea Party wins, Republican Moderate loses

Yeah that a tough one to figure out

And the RNC finally realized the LMSM has no business directing our primary

The left hate when liberal Republicans go down in the primaries because that means the voters actually have a choice other than liberal versus liberal.

Fact: the TPM win in 2010 quickly dusted away

Fact: the TPM contributed directly to BHO's victory, the Senates' increase in Dem seats, and the House's decrease in GOP seats

Conclusion: the TPM hurts the mainstream GOP

Action: starve the group and its candidates of $$$ and media next year in the primaries

Those like Steph are being minimalized and those like Geaux and Yurt ignored in terms of any input.

How will Jake campaign against Scott Walker or Dr. Ben Carson as the GOP Candidate?

Easy, they are not moderates, in other words not democrats. Carson is definitely a right wing reactionary, whatever that means, after all he respects life. Far out man.

What a bunch of horseshit. Obama won because he was the encumbant, because he is black and because the MSM and the DNC were able to smear Romney, and his wife BTW. There should have been many more democrats riding his coat tail and there was not. Fail.

Yet me ask you Jake, did you vote for Romney, no Republican gets much further left then him? He has to be what you would describe as a moderate....

Keep telling yourself that as we strip the local and state candidates of campaign money in favor of the ones we like, mainstream candidates that will lead the GOP to victory.

Romney was the best candidate among a group of losers, for sure.

Dems hold the mayor office of every city with a pop of 100K or more in Tenn. Charge on teapartiers ... "no compromise." It worked so well in 1861.

You guys are preoccupied with how this will help/hurt the Republican party. But most of us pushing for change don't give a shit. We'll vote for any candidate, for just about any party, who stands up credibly for the principles we believe in. Likewise we're not voting for establishment tools, regardless of which team they play for.

In a few locales, that will make a different.

State and regionally and nationally wide, you no longer have the numbers. Those days are over.
