Ban the "B" word!

Or you could stop overreacting, that'd be swell.

And banning perfectly good words like "bossy" isn't over reacting?

They aren't trying to pass a law, you dufus, they're attempting to influence change on the underlying backwards, paternalistic, and condescending attitude. :slap:

Well duh!

.

I think we should ban any word that ever offends anyone in any way at any time.

After all, this is America. We don't want our feelings hurt.

.

I found your post highly offensive. It contained only one b though. You get a pass this time.

Offtopic (but it does contain one b)........the only thing Pop finds offensive is warm, flat beer.

Only when I drink!

I've noticed how lot of women in that same class who want to ban the word "bossy" don't mind if they are called "boss" at any point. It's actually quite sad that some women have to ban a word to instill some sense of self confidence or self worth. The saying "actions speak louder than words" would most definitely apply here.

The crazier part of this is the woman behind the campaign, Sheryl Sandberg, relays her story while in school and being called "bossy" and the negative effect it had on her and this is the reason for the ban. She is a billionaire and the COO of Facebook making an whopping 854 million a year.

Huffington Post got a doctor and headed to schools and came away with the fact the name is used for both boys and girls. Additionally, the girls said the word really meant nothing but perhaps might have in the past and said "Maybe that was old times" when it had some sort of effect, they also questioned if Sandberg was right. Surprisingly, the visit showed boys believe girls to be the natural leaders in those specific classes and that boys were under-achieving boys.

Forbes also has an OPed about the ban as well:

Dear Sheryl Sandberg: There Are Far Worse Things Than Being Called Bossy - Forbes

Bossy is a find adjective and bossily a fine adverb and bossed a fine very and boss a fine noun.

Tell em all not to be bossy.

I think anyone who is trying to ban the word "bossy" is rather bossy herself.

Just sayin'.

The word which hurts girls is "Bossy".

I recall using the word, but it was used towards anyone, not just girls.

Any thoughts anyone?

This so-called campaign to ban the word "bossy" is just more liberal left-wing bullshit propaganda to try and control someone's "Freedom of Speech".

It will also turn out to be a huge waste of time, money and energy.
Three things that libtards are great at wasting.

Meh. I've never heard of men being called bossy.

In fact, I can't think of a single denigrating term for white anglo-saxon protestant male.

Asshole, dick, jerk, faggot... you clearly arent trying hard enough. Males bosses are called much worse things than women, and they are called those things more frequently than women are.

Bossy?

Like we need a new faux controversy invented by Madison Avenue marketing drones to sell to K-street lawyers so the rich will have something new to talk about on the cocktail party circuit.

'Bossy?' (thinks...hard...) Can't recall ever using it. This PC stuff is getting stupid.

What a jo...wait a minute! Rhianna is in on this, well if ever there was a more perfect example of female empowerment than Rhianna, I've not seen her.

And, isn't Condi Rice some sort of uncle tom house N word evil republican? How can this be?

So much win in one ad.

I'd sleep with every single one of those ladies. Delicous.

Yet another attempt by the left to boss us around.

Just a thought, but if we eliminate all the emotionally charged words from usage wont we hit each other more to express our displeasure instead of just calling someone a name?

Interesting thread.

It seems everyone understands the reason for this movement. But maybe others think a better choice of words would be "Please stop using the word bossy specifically to women, it can be offensive".

As pointed out earlier, demanding the ban of the word bossy is directly that...BOSSY.

I also agree that it is a gender neutral word. I don't see any misuse of the word if it's used like, "That's one bossy dude".

I say call it what it is. Most words that are "banned" have an equal opposite meaning we use freely that no one thinks twice about saying. It's important for people to ask who banned the words considered curse words? Was it religion or people in powerful positions :eusa_boohoo:
