Bernie: "Today the Walton family of Walmart own more wealth than the bottom 40 percent of America."

You can always count on a lib to fail to get the point. They think acting stupid is a winning debate strategy.
Your point was quite clear. You worship the wealthy, facts be damned.

Your precious princess's company is tanking. You should offer to let her crash on your couch when things get really ugly.
Nobody worships rich people, they do respect what they have done.

I respect what Sam Walton did. I think it's a crying shame that his grandchildren, who have never worked a day in their lives, are tarnishing his legacy. Why don't you?
It's a crying shame, people let envy do all their thinking for them, cowards...

Not sure if it's envy exactly, but posts like this:

You can always count on a lib to fail to get the point. They think acting stupid is a winning debate strategy.

certainly don't enhance communication. I believe he's one of yours. What can you do to help him become more flexible?
Who cares what the waltons do with THEIR money. No one else should give two sh!ts what they do with THEIR money.

The nutsack that is Bernie should mind his own business...

Christy is the richest of them, and she only has $25 billion, not $50 billion.

Only $25 billion? Poor dear, how does she manage? :(

Now, about this:

She opposes the minimum wage because it's bad for the people it claims to help.

I don't see how anyone can justify this.
Bernie Sanders says Walmart heirs own more wealth than bottom 40 percent of Americans
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, tweeted a startling statistic to his followers on July 22, 2012: "Today the Walton family of Walmart own more wealth than the bottom 40 percent of America."

Sanders speaks and writes frequently about wealth distribution in the U.S., a hot-button issue among liberals and a rallying cry of the Occupy Wall Street Movement.

The Waltons, of course, are members of the proverbial 1 percent. But are they really sitting on that much wealth? We decided to check it out.

First, what is wealth?

In economics, wealth is commonly measured in terms of net worth, and it’s defined as the value of assets minus liabilities. For someone in the middle class, that could encompass the value of their 401(k) or other retirement accounts, bank savings and personal assets such as jewelry or cars, minus what they owe on a home mortgage, credit cards and a car note.

It does not include income -- what people earn in wages. For that reason, someone who earns a good salary but has little savings and owes a lot of money on their house would have a negative net worth.

In fact, because so many Americans invest in real estate to buy a home, middle-class wealth has been one of the biggest casualties of the housing-driven recession.

From 2007 to 2010, typical families lost 39 percent of their wealth, according to the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances, done every three years. In 2007, the median family net worth was $126,400. In 2010, it was $77,300, according to the survey.

Where the Waltons fit in

Six members of the Walton family appear on the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans. Christy Walton, widow of the late John Walton, leads the clan at No. 6 with a net worth of $25.3 billion as of March 2012. She is also the richest woman in the world for the seventh year in a row, according to Forbes. Here are the other five:

No. 9: Jim Walton, $23.7 billion
No. 10: Alice Walton, $23.3 billion
No. 11: S. Robson Walton, oldest son of Sam Walton, $23.1 billion
No. 103: Ann Walton Kroenke, $3.9 billion
No. 139: Nancy Walton Laurie, $3.4 billion

South Park made a good point about this in their "Something Wicked This Way Comes" parody involving Wal-Mart. When you do things better than your competition, you grow and become successful. Little mom n pop stores become chains and at some point get a lot of crap for nothing other than being successful.

That's not right. We shouldn't punish success and say by virtue of it the people are bad. That's capitalism. It's how it's supposed to work.

Black teen unemployment is AT LEAST 30%. These jobs didnt go to china, the ones Black teens could be doing.
You got Progressives, still mostly White at the top, running around opposing Walmarts in cities where young Black people could be employed. cant blame any of that on Republicans, on the Tea Party, on Fox News. Progressives dont give a shit about the people they claim to care for the most.

Easy. Stop shopping at wally world. We did that 20 years ago. Stop shopping there and their wealth drops.
The problem is, the walton family has inherited so much of the above, and given the ability walmart has to virtually control prices, and the reliance on cheap goods, I don't see that happening.

Go to Walmart some time and look at the people you will hurt if there were not Walmart. The poor shop there because the prices are the best. If the suppliers could sell elsewhere for more money they would in a heartbeat. The area where I live is much better off then before Walmart moved in. Walmart was the first of many stores that opened around them. Mom and Pop stores that employed few and paid minimum wage are a thing of the past.

... at a Macon Wal-Mart on Sunday shows a teenager race inside flashing gang .... Union Member Admits Being Paid To Protest Against Walmart On Video. .... Yesterday, the liberal majority of the D.C. City Council voted that if Wal-Mart .... One reason Wal-Mart is such a fun company to observe is it drives progressives nuts

So these folks build a business....
Hire people.....
People shop there and don't seem to have a problem with it.
No one is putting a gun to their heads....

Walmart is a huge success story.....

And Libs have a problem with it.

Why?

Seriously? When one family owns more wealth then the bottom 40% of america, there is a problem. This isn't envy.

How does that effect you how is that a problem?

"to each according to his need. From each according to his ability"

You've got it backwards. More to the point, it's integral to all of the world's major religions. So did Marx crib from Jesus, or was Jesus a Marxist?

While you're pondering that, maybe you can explain why expecting something from someone who doesn't have it (like Conservative65's plan to squeeze taxes out of working-class people) makes sense?

Then again, I have to remember that the three top GOP "leaders" in the Presidential race are there because they have absolutely no experience, so looking at the world through that distorted lens, it probably makes sense.

How are they tarnishing his legacy?

Try to imagine you're a poor kid who came up from nowhere and worked hard all your life to build a legacy. Fortunately you didn't live to see what your grandkids are doing to it. If someone with Sam's background applied for a job at Walmart today, the company business model would have him stocking shelves for $7.32 an hour. "Oh, you went to college? That's nice. This is a broom. Figure out how it works. If you've been here for five years, we might move you up to full-time...or not."

Your point was quite clear. You worship the wealthy, facts be damned.

It cuts off communication, and you know it. It's one of the dodges your side overuses. What's next? "I accept your surrender"?

Let the waltons be, envy really makes America an ugly place...

Not as ugly as calculated ignorance.

The Waltons aside, why is your side comfortable with the fact that Apple pays no income tax? Why don't you take issue with that? Might have to "boycott" all those Apple products, right? That would be unpleasant for you.

Income tax is unconstitutional, It punishes success...

Interesting hypothesis, but the fact is, you pay income tax, Apple doesn't. And apparently that's okay with you.

If they can get away with it more power to them, I am unable to feel envy.

Taxes only go to a politicians pocket anyway, can't blame them for always wanting to raise taxes... They do get away with it.

All the while the government is paying debt with more debt, insanity

Quite true. WalMart has come up with a plan for stores in heavily urban areas where the standard big-box plan wouldn't work, and where there are lots of poor people who could use the lower prices and entry-level jobs, and the strongest opposition they're receiving is from various leftist interest groups.

If modern leftists had been around when the car became popular, we'd all still be dependent on horses in order to keep from putting the buggy-whip manufacturers out of business.
