I'm not sure I get the point of this and the "fascist" comments.

I'm not disagreeing with the point - indeed, democracy is at risk when a highly-animated third of the population has been conned into believing it is rigged. And yes, the rise of the alternate universe has put us at, literally, a historic moment. The country is more fragile than it has been since the Civil War. And yes, the parallels between this movement and Europe of 85 years ago are undeniable. A cult of personality surrounding one profoundly damaged man.
