There is a video on YouTube, maybe more than one, I don't know, where the FBI pays a visit to a guy for talking shit on FaceBook. Thing is, this guy looks like a young slacker left wing nut job. The video never said exactly why the FBI was there.

Sounds like a majority of people are pro-Orwellian. Can't say I'm surprised.

This argument sort of went from rage vs Bush, to Bush isn't doing it anymore, to Obama isn't doing that and your conspiracy theories are nutty, to Obama is actually doing that and I'm all for it.

Solution is for the 4th Amendment to apply to stuff on your phone, computer, credit card receipts and private correspondences.

You people actually want to live on a prison planet ( except for mudwhistle). You prefer to be kept safe in a cage. You promote the construction of the ultimate Panopticon.
You reap what you sow.

Nope, just an understanding of how society is evolving. Your landline (providing it isn't VoIP) and your snail mail are still private. But the internet is as public as Times Square in NYC. A lawyer talking to his client on a cell phone in the subway has compromised attorney-client privilege. We the People need to recognize and understand that cyberspace is not private and no one is anonymous. Just as your snail mail has your fingerprints, signature, mailing to and from addresses on it so does your email. The difference is that you don't need a warrant to read posts on USMB, Facebook, Twitter, etc, etc.

Life is evolving, adapt or die is the key to survival, learn to survive in cyberspace by understanding the reality of what it is and how it works.

Two completely unrelated issues!

Phone calls are private. Internet postings are public.
BTW, since Obama took over even our phone conversation and our emails are fair game without a warrant.

That was Bush jr and you never uttered a single whine about him doing it.
And you're a liar. Remember all of the discussions about FISA courts??

No, of course not.

That was because Bush jr was illegally bypassing the FISA courts in order to tap into phone calls.
From what I read Bush did nothing.

It was rouge agents from Cincinnati.

Rouge agents?

I remember when I first got into the field and I was monitoring internet traffic for this company. You would be surprised at the things people look at on the internet while at work.
"but so what", has always been my point
Lots of people lost their jobs for the things they were looking at. It wasn't across the board. it was a means to get rid of people they didnt like. Lets say they wanted to fire an employee. A casual peruse of their internet traffic history logged on a proxy server was often used to build a case against them. They got fired for violating internet usage policy.
Most people who work in the tech world are creepy. very few ethics

take that to the bank

I disagree! There certainly are some unethical creeps but there are way more in the legal profession, politics, the Wall Street Casino, car dealerships, Kirby salesmen, etc, etc.

Considering that we have many posters campaigning for treason, insurrection and a lot worse, they might want to be aware of the key words that get the attention of the feds.
Glad to see faggots like you campaigning for the government clamping down on free speech by monitoring "radical right wingers" like it is East Germany.

I would really like to see you pussies try to "bring down the hammer" on the right wing. It will just be a repeat of the Bundy Ranch where you guys lose and retreat.

Monitoring is NOT "clamping down on free speech".

You seem angry, little Adolph.
Damn right I am Shlomo.

It shows, little Adolph.

If it hadn't occured to you until this thread that everything you write online can be read by anyone wishing to, especially governments, corporations, and criminal groups, well, there ya are. :)

Maybe the FBI has received complaints about USMB.
Probably the libs bitching about their asses getting kicked.

I would report a perceived threat directly to the FBI if I felt it warranted it. I might have done this already, several times over the years. Why wouldn't I?

In addition to that, I've helped get several "recruitment sites" shut down by bombarding servers with emails threatening to take legal action.

Not saying more, I've left too many clues already for you Scooby Kids!

While posting on a message board would be open for scrutiny by law enforcement, things like emails, phone conversations or even the contents of your cell phone are protected -- police would need a warrant in order to see that information.

Are you bored because you feel underwhelmed here? We could bump you up a couple of grades, of course if we're wrong, you might be even more bored.

How about if we get you some string to play with?

Nutz is so damn stupid, he can't keep straight who he is babbling to and he thinks that Tea Party-ers are a problem when, in reality, it is the lolberals who are the problem.

That posting seems like a definite liability to your cause, because it really doesn't address the idea of big brother homing in on your isp and grabbing all your postings. They are out there, you know.

You mean just like your post went off topic and addressed another matter entirely?

Funny how that happens.
