Call me cynical but I'm guessing the zoo people made a calculated decision based on money.

The kid got through some sort of opening in the barriers. He dies and that's gross negligence on the part of the zoo. He dies when the zoo people could have taken the shot and didn't,

that's even more liability.

Based on the video evidence, it doesn't appear the gorilla means to do harm to the kid. The scary dragging around part was even done in what, to gorillas and their babies, was probably considered safe.

Tranqs are not immediate effect. That would have endangered the childs life.

Why isnt anyone asking how the zoo could fail to build an enclosure that would prevent a little 5 year old from crawling through it and into a gorilla enclosure?

Any parent knows that a kid can wait till they see you dont have eyes on them and then *poof* they are gone. Dont see the parents as necessarily at fault here. The zoo should have had a better enclosure in place.

Parents are ultimately responsible for taking care of their children. We don't have barricades along streets; parents teach their kids not to run into traffic, or escort them if they are too young to understand. A four year old child should have been kept away from the barrier.
