Black GOP Senator Talks About Being Pulled Over By Police 7 Times In One Year
“This is a situation that happens all across the country,” Sen. Tim Scott said, “whether we want to recognize it or not.”

WASHINGTON ― In the course of one year as an elected official, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) was pulled over seven times by law enforcement. Another time, a Capitol Police officer demanded that Scott show him his ID because the special pin on Scott’s suit jacket ― a pin assigned to United States senators ― evidently wasn’t enough.

Scott shared these stories and more Wednesday evening during a roughly 18-minute speech on the Senate floor. He is the only black senator in the Republican conference, and one of just two in the upper chamber.

His speech on Wednesday was the second in a series of three in response to a lone gunman killing five police officers in Dallas last week, as well as the police shootings of Alton Sterling, who was killed outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile, who was shot during a traffic stop in Minnesota. Scott delivered his first speech on Tuesday and plans to deliver the final one Thursday.

---

Scott’s address on Wednesday came after four other senators urged their colleagues to take a vote on criminal justice reform ― something many lawmakers say is badly needed.

“There is a deep divide between the black community and law enforcement ― a trust gap,” Scott said. “We cannot ignore these issues. Because while so many officers do good ― and we should be very thankful in support of all those officers that do good ― some simply do not. I’ve experienced it myself.”

Scott said he chose to talk about his encounters with police, experiences that left him feeling humiliated and “very scared,” because he’s heard people trying to paint Castile and Walter Scott ― a black man who was killed by a police officer in South Carolina last year while running away ― as criminals.

BLM is winning .. big time.

The BLM is helping Trump. Every time they whack a cop of stage on of their violent protests, they turn off the voters with regard to Hillary, who supports them unconditionally.

We don't always see eye to eye on much but we agree on this. BLM is the best gift the gop could of ever hoped for.

Clintons lead is gone because of it.

This is probably going to end up killing more black people and forcing more businesses to move out of black areas. SImply because criminal behavior will spread as police will have their hands tied.

Then they should find new jobs.

Simple.

Matthew, you're on the wrong side of history on this issue. BLM is fighting fire with fire. BLM is not killing cops any more than "Christians" are killing abortion providers.

Throughout american history the white male power structure has foreseen the threat of living up to the lofty rhetoric of what america was supposed to be as the end of the world. Perhaps it is for their vision of what the world should be. Good, fuck 'em, it has always been a system of oppression to serve an entitled few - which america has repeatedly used as justification to topple other governments. "Power concedes nothing without first a demand." That's still as true as it ever was, thank you Mr Douglas. Thank you as well Mr John Brown for your martyrdom and for being way ahead of even our current time. Anyone who ever questioned any power structure was immediately and vociferously denounced and decried by the power structure and its swallower followers as all of the things we now hear being dropped on the "BLM" movement by this corrupt system and its puppets. The struggle for equality is universal and timeless, it is merely given different names and draws different establishment defamation tactics though time. It's all in the spirit of Crazy Horse. The power of the state to murder citizens at will for nothing or for questioning power must always be resisted. This concept should be quentissetial americanism. It would be if we were talking about whites being murdered on the streets by cops and wannabe cops.

There is a lone reason to trash these folks who question the status quo in america and one can feel it in the backlash. American society simply cannot stand up to the scrutiny. THAT is what the backlash is all about. America is one grand lie, a caste system that mines humanity just as surely as we mine coal, gold, uranium and oil, the latter being why we must by proxy cannibalize our own society to rule the middle east.
