Boots On The Ground, Or Not?

Should We Send Enough Troops To Syria To Defeat ISIS?

  • Yes, absolutely.

  • No, and hell no.

  • Other, to be explained in my post.

Only in the form of advisors. Sending combat troops to battle ISIS would be used as a call to arms by the barbarians. It is exactly what ISIS wants.

"Should we send in the necessary ground troops to finish off ISIS, or not?

It is currently estimated it would take about 30,000 to 40,000 troops to do so."

That's the problem: there is no 'finishing off' ISIS using conventional military ground forces.

As soon as such a force arrives in the Region, ISIS fighters will simply melt away, return home to their towns and villages – or return to Europe – to carry on an insurgency campaign of terror attacks and killing American troops with sniper fire and IEDs, just as occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And when the Americans finally leave, ISIS will reconstitute and the terror, war, death, and destruction will start over again.

The solution to ISIS in particular, and terrorism in general, will not be found on a conventional military battlefield.

.

So, no wiggling, no waffling bullshit about how Obama would never send troops. The question is, "SHOULD we?"
no, we can easily eliminate the center of the Caliphate, Raqqa, from the air. That would be a good first step.

There is no point o putting American boots anywhere but beside the nappy-time bed until we have a president who can comprehend that one does not fight wars one does not intend to win.

They need everyone's boots on the ground. Egyptian boots, Iraqi boots, Kurdish boots, Russian boots, Arab boots, French boots, German boots, and a few navy seal American boots for sniper shots.

Boots on the ground.............The Generals have been saying that is what it will take to get this done.................

Just don't tie their danged hands behind their backs this time..............

And of course a bombing campaign..........

France is pissed get them and Europe into this fight this time...........

"Boots On The Ground, Or Not?"

Again, one hopes this is rhetorical.

No sane American would advocate another war in the ME, more Americans dying in a meaningless, pointless conflict, a war which would succeed in only making the terrorists stronger.
Its obviously not meaningless or pointless. The point precisely is to defeat an enemy who has waged attacks on a NATO ally.
