People like him became needed when we started out babysteps into a global power and imperialism with the Spanish American War. But we still did not have the Fiat Currency and most of the citizens were not acclimated to killing other people as their religion at the time told them. WW 1 was the frist step to get that out of their system. WW 2 took i out of their system and the Great Depression was used to do it. Then the Imperialism and World Policing started in earnest but the people were not happy about seeing their family members killed. So they ended the draft so there could be no excuses from that. And that was huge. The long time wars are not natural. To ask a person in the military who may want to do 20 years as a career and do several tours of duty in that situation is crazy.

Trump will get more votes in 2020 than he got in 2016. Trump is a known quantity, Biden has too many constituencies to pander to, blacks, the progressives, unions, etc.
Biden's policy list will scare too many voters, especially women. Defund the police anyone? That won't sell, so there goes some of Joe's energy. Open borders? Free college? Close pipelines? Green New Deal? Gun Control? China wins the trade war. The Bidens cash in on their trade deals.
