BREAKING NEWS: Arlen Specter switching parties to give Democrats 60 votes in Senate

Yup. And it works well with that base because: "how dare a rich man support the rabble?"

That's part of it I suspect. Mostly I think he and people like him are just visible targets and rallying points.

A lot of them WAll Street Banks....hey, I'm just sayin, you know?

Yes. But a lot of them are oil companies, pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies, too.

Hell yes.

And those odd bones are precisely what our scroogitarian chums so object to, too. They're all over pissing away billions of dubious empire, but feeding the poor just annoys the crap out of these folks.

How dare the working class and middle class not suffer even more than they do? They didn't study hard enough in school like brilliant old me did!

The percentage of the $740 Billion going into the bailout that actually comes to the people who most need is really quite low.

But that small potatoes charity is an affront to the "let 'em bleed" crowd.

I can never understand that attitude.

I have a theory that there is a certain element of society that thinks if you aren't financially successful, then G-d didn't want you to be or you don't deserve it.. Did you ever see the show Godspell? There's a song called All For The Best.....

"but who is the land for, the sun and the sand for? you guessed... it's all for the best."

First off Specter was like Arnold, Republican in name only.
Second, there is one and only one reason Specter is doing this. In order to get reelected. He knows the Democrats across the country are eye'ing that filibuster and then the all allusive 2/3 majority needed for the next constitutional convention! The 67 votes. With Liberman you have 67, even without Liberman you are still very close! However the house is still a fight. 257 Ds and 290 is needed! Specter is doing this for his own selfish reasons!

I seem to agree with just about everything I see and hear from the president.

So if I'm "so far left", then so is he. And he isn't.

Maybe you are so far right that you are projecting on me and you don't even know it? I don't know you enough to say. That's for you to consider.

Bobo if we had a poll, from non-forum members, about your political leanings based on what you say in these threads.....i have a suspicion Bo that you would be considered FAR-LEFT,or at least liberal left.....and if they looked at my posts,i would think i would end up as a Liberal Rep. or considered a Cons. Dem.....in the 80's i was pretty much a Dem....untill they started going out to play left field....then it was by-by....and the Rep....well they were starting to go out to play right field....so cant go there.....so its indy time....i like to play Center Field.....start doing your own thinking, both parties suck big time....Bobo your probobly a nice guy in real life, but your answers to most stuff posed here is.....if the left says it,it must be true.....ANYTHING else must be either wrong or a lie......if i was a person trying to decide which party i should follow, and you were the Dems spokesperson, you would turn me off to the Dems pretty quickly Bobo....you are way to far left for my tastes....

Spectors voting record makes him more an independent than a member of either party.

And Dems deal with Dems with an independent steak better than Republicans have of late.

What is it that the late satirist Will Rogers said?

I don't belong to any organized political party... I'm a Democrat.
uh, Lieberman?

You say you're an old school conservative...there are NO old school conservatives in the GOP. They were chased out by theocrats and neocons...
there are no theocrats and spector is a NEOCON

diveCON...I am increasingly concerned that you have permanent brain damage from the bends...

Please define theocrat
Please define neocon

Because you don't know who or what they are and it's causing you to talk like a pea brain...
clearly i know what they are more than you do because you are a fucking moron

You say you're an old school conservative...there are NO old school conservatives in the GOP. They were chased out by theocrats and neocons...

I wouldn't say that. The Senate in general is worthless but in the House there are some respectable conservatives. Ron Paul comes to mind on economic and governmental issues as being old school conservative.

Why is it that the word 'christian' always has to follow the word conservative? Like it's some kind of a pejorative? I'm going to start calling every Democrat a liberal atheist every time I have to reference one, that makes about as much sense.

Enviro nazi's?

Do you know what president started the EPA?

yes, i do, captain non sequitur.

why do you ask?

You read your entire mortgage? :eusa_liar:

Can't argue with the dishonest.

PS. Yes, laws were actually broken.

I know you are pro corporation and you think that corporations should be able to pray on our dumbest citizens, but that's why we don't have jerks like you running government anymore.

Trust me/us, we are right, you are wrong. But seems you will never get that. Look how bad things are for people who follow your way of thinking and you guys still won't shut up or understand.

Fine, we're socialists. Now give us your bank account pin so we can spread the wealth.

No i didn't read it line by line ( like Obama said he was gonna do ) and yet mine turned out ok ! How did this amazing feat happen with all the predatory lending going on ? I guess i was just one of the lucky ones that knew exaclty how much i could afford and knew what my interest rate would be BEFORE signing. I "qualified" for much higher than i knew i could afford, but i made a radical move and bought within my means. So i'm the one you should be thanking, the dems are gonna use my tax money to save the mortgages of dummies like you.

"Your way" doesn't work, make me a list of successful "govenment programs". That list will be about as long as "jewish sports legends".

BTW, my pin number is 2012 ........:eusa_whistle:

Your way is to socialize the losses and privatize the profits. That hasn't worked.

Make me a list. Fuck you. Just look at the results of Bushanomics. Now that truly didn't work.

Fuck you, you can't make a list because there is nothing to start from.

Where are you getting this "socializing" from ? Who wants to socialize the banking system, auto industry and the health care system ? That's all just for starters. What your dumbass doesn't realize is, government taking over these industries ( with more to follow ) is not the "fix", it's the objective.

You crack me up, when Bush supports the bailouts, its bloody murder, but ever since Obama's support for them has been in the limelight, Obama is the most sooper dooper president ever. Stop being a bi-polar fag and make up your mind, or just admit that you're a partisan hack that will follow Obama off a cliff....:eusa_whistle:

Do you know what president started the EPA?

yes, i do, captain non sequitur.

why do you ask?
as do i
but he is too fucking stupid to know that "the league of consevation voters" is NOT the EPA

The REASON I asked and it IS related, is the EPA was started by a REPUBLICAN president... when Republicans WERE actually concerned about conservation...

Today's Republicans are only interested in sucking the dick of corporations. They have helped create corporate socialism ... also known as a corporatocracy...

The League of Conservation Voters - For 30 years, the non-partisan LCV Scorecard has been the nationally accepted yardstick used to gauge how members of Congress voted on key energy and environmental issues.

As incompetent as Bush was, it pales in comparison to his horrible environmental record.

Albert Camus said: "It is the job of thinking people not to be on the side of the executioners."... it is becoming crystal clear that you are NOT able to think..

Nixon! Who might have been one of the best presidents if that little watergate scandal didn't happen! He was also the best President for the environment also!
