Paying hush money is illegal when associated with election campaign, if its not reported to FEC. And Trump previously disclosed he reimbursed Cohen for it, which means Trump authorized it.

BTW, paying hush money is not illegal and there are no FEC rules that prevent paying hush money. The money is required to be reported to the FEC if it comes out of the campaign fund, which, hint hint, is why Trump hired a lawyer. See how that works???
