If people are offended by the American flag, they should leave the country. And the fact they equivocate the American flag to foreign flags, and think them the same thing, shows their disdain for the American nation.

Oh, but Sir, Our Confederate States did leave the union, and then were subsequently invaded and occupied under the U.S. Flag of oppression for the next 150 years and counting. And what of the extermination under the U.S. Flag of the Native American Indian, The Tuskegee Syphilis experiments performed on those Black men by the U.S. CDC from 1932 until 1972, or the U.S. governments Eugenics program of which Nazi Germany used as a model for its master race program?
If our Confederate Flag is found offensive to many, YOUR U.S. Flag is found offensive to many as well. What you fail to understand is that the Founders intended and established a union of States, NOT a consolidation of them. The States even under YOUR U.S. CONstitution were suppose to be participants in legislation through each States appointment of two representatives called Senators, hence the union/confederacy of States (The United States) remained intact, without the State governments participation in legislation, then the States have no participation in a union, therefore there is no longer a United States, hence nop flag to represent a union of States, what that "American flag now represents is a consolidation of the States by force of arms, in much the same way the former "Soviet Union" was a "union" by force of arms.
Those students are correct, if one cannot be displayed, then none should.
As for "Higher learning"....NO,NO, its higher indoctrination. I doubt that you, or even one percent of these so called higher learning institutions have given these young men and women an education in the two systems that were established by YOUR U.S. CONstitution, or even what those two systems were. HINT.... There is no longer a "Federal government" as absent a federal system, there can be no "Federal government".
The problem is, blind patriotism and flag waving by the ignorant who should NOT be voting, or participating in a government of which they do not understand its proper system.

Written by student Matthew Guevara of the School of Social Ecology, the resolution states: "The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism" and notes that flags "construct paradigms of conformity and sets homogenized standards."

The resolution goes on to say that "freedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible, can be interpreted as hate speech."

The resolution passed on a 6-4 vote by the student legislative council, with two abstentions.
