British government discovers way to reduce unemployment

Basic economic theory proves you wrong.. reality proves you wrong...

Really? Eliminating all taxes and fees for business and injecting billions into the economy would do nothing?

Keep in mind that consumer spending increases employment.

Lol... that is not true. Incredibly stupid remark.

Consumer spending is a direct result of higher employment.

Angels and ministers of grace, defend us.

Arbitrarily raising the cost of labor and the amount of governmental handouts (increasing the need for more taxes or more debt) does not help the economy, it hurts it... prices inflation and unemployment ALL rise from such a stupid move

Arbitrarily raising a wage floor does not eliminate poverty.. it shifts the line of the definition of poverty... you think all those who were making between $8 and $22 an hour suddenly will settle for making the same as an unskilled burger flipper and urinal scrubber?? No... the move has ripples that go up the economic ladder

Your 'plan' is a farce

The UK is hardly Europe, only 1 step above us, as in Tories 2nd worst RW idiots in the modern world...

More likely an increase in crime and MORE recession, as they've BEEN doing...

Reduce welfare benefits.

Who knew it could be so simple?

BBC News - Benefits cap leads to more people in work, says government

I believe most states already have caps that are equal to or lower than those you stated in GB.

Yeah, that works out to $750 per couple and $528 single. Throw in foodstamps and it is uncomfortably livable.

Here is a list of max benefits by state. These are maximum benefits. Most people do not receive anywhere near the maximum. Know what you are talking about before sticking your foot in your mouth. BTW, £500 is equal to $750.

So how do you get higher employment if business is holding out for their subsidies?

Why would there be a need for more taxes?

You don't think artificially inflated wages count as a tax and you want people to take you seriously?

No. I wrote paid wages eliminate tax for business.

You want to raise the minimum wage to $23.50 an hour, that is a tax on business, even if you don't understand it.

Who knew it could be so simple?

The cap, on the total amount of benefits that non-working people aged 16 to 64 can receive, has begun rolling out across England, Scotland and Wales.
Couples and lone parents will now not receive more than £500 a week, while a £350 limit applies to single people.
But critics say the changes will hit parts of the country unfairly, and will not tackle underlying problems.
Those in work who also claim benefits, are not affected by the cap.
"What the job centre staff have told us is that they've seen a genuine increase [in people looking for work] since they've alerted people that they're likely to be in the cap," said the Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, who has spearheaded these changes.

The same is taking place here in Sweden. Business is actually beginning to boom. Some gripe about it, and others have even showed their displeasure causing difficulties at the local benefits office, but all in all, it is changing.

Interesting, that as the United States swings more and more to what they imagine to be the European model, governments here are moving in the other direction.

It's not... if you don't employ anyone that earns less than that.

You can circumwent those taxes easily by firing those people, which will for sure help unemployment somehow.

Liberal: We have to structure our benefits like they do in Europe!

Reality: Great Britain caps welfare, sees rise in employment.

Liberal: No! We can't do that! That'll NEVER work!

The left's goal is not, of course, getting people off government dependence. It's getting more and more people on it.

Apples vs oranges sir. GP business isn't nearly as subsidy needy as ours.
Pssst! We're talking about individuals, not business.
