Burger King Moves North to Canada for Tax Reasons.

Did Obama just chases the King across the border.?
US Corporate Tax Rate 35% the highest in the industrialized world
Canada's Corporate Tax Rate 15%

Burger King looking at crossing the border: The iconic American fast-food brand is in talks to buy coffee-and-donuts chain Tim Hortons and move its headquarters to Canada.

Many businesses will follow suit to keep their doors open, as Obama tries to find a way to penalize them from doing so.

Thank you Daddy war-bucks Mittens has moved his over paying company out of the US, just like all the rest but one???

With corporate tax rates the way they are, it's hard to blame businesses from wanting to cut their rate.

Of course Obama will now call Burger King unpatriotic.

They must have a shithay CFO if they can't find enough tax avoision to stay here, but maybe Canada likes horse beef cheese burgers??

Did Obama just chases the King across the border.?

No, he didn't. As your own article states, Burger King is purchasing a large chain based in Canada, and is considering moving their headquarters to Canada as a result of that.

Stop being such a bigot and read your damn articles.

This is bad, but it's hard to blame them! In fact it should be a wake up call or more of a lab test. If we enacted the fair tax or the Brilliant Cain's 9-9-9 plan, then you would see a FLOOD of reshoring.

The bottom line is that Burger King is moving it's headquarters from Miami to Canada for tax purposes.
How is this article or my response even remotely being bigoted?

The gummint doesn't tell us, "we'll give you $1000 every month you don't murder someone." Rather, they say, "if you murder someone, we'll put you in prison for the rest of your life or execute you."
Likewise, companies should be penalized for moving to another country to avoid paying taxes, not rewarded with economy-busting tax cuts for doing the right thing; that is, NOT moving their operations abroad.

But then again, running an economy to benefit—and pander to— those who like to call themselves The Elite is an inferior way of doing things.

Obama's plan for corporate taxes would lower the top corporate tax rate to 28% and pay for the rate reduction by closing loopholes. If Romney/Republicans were to get their way, they would reduce the rate to 25% and pay for the cut by closing loopholes -- seems to me, there is room for compromise but-----but so long as we have Republican/lazyass-do nothing congress... nothing-----nothing will be done.

My guess is Burger King's going to pay a whopper sized penalty in decreased sales for their 1.2% savings in taxes -- their choice.

What a bunch of whiners Republicans are, they expect us (you and me) to pay taxes to protect ME oil fields so they can move their goods with carbon based fuels while skating on their own responsibilities.

Combined with local and state taxes, Canada's corporate tax rate is 26.3%, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The combined U.S. corporate rate is 39.1%.

Many U.S. companies use various tax maneuvers, including sheltering some foreign earnings abroad, to pay less than the full rate. Burger King's overall effective tax rate in 2013 was 27.5%, according to its annual report.

This is funny and hugely ironic, given that Canada is far more "liberal" and socialist than the U.S. They have real national health care and APPARENTLY lower tax rates. LOL

What they don't have is an empire to maintain or a dick-waving foreign policy.

Those things cost big money.

Remember when Canada used to be called Canuckistan because it was so damn socialist?

Time to update our perceptions - independent metrics now show that the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave is just North of the US. We've become the socialist joke.

Canada depends on the US for protection of course.....

I've been to Toronto many times. I used to travel there frequently for work when I lived back east. I could definitely live there if it wasn't so freakin cold in the winter.

He should do the same with any American company/foreign company operating in America that is not employing Americans but instead employing foreigners in foreign countries.

Then he should hit them with a special tax.
A tax so punitive that they will employ Americans in America.

Companies in America being allowed to send American jobs to India, the Philippines etc because of 'slave' labour and massive tax breaks....baaah!
There oughta be a law!

Obama should start a govt-owned burger chain..."American Burgers.."
with only American produce used and only American staff employed.
