China to Help Build Las Vegas-to-Los Angeles High-Speed Railway

At least china will do it as congress has no interest in America's infrastructure

A unit of CCRC, China's largest train maker, has signed a deal to help build a high-speed bullet train railway linking Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

CRRC also last week broke ground on a factory in the U.S. that will manufacture trains for Boston's subway system as part of a $556 million deal that China CNR, now part of CRRC, won almost a year ago.

China to Help Build Las Vegas-to-Los Angeles High-Speed Railway

Who is paying for it ?
let's end the drug war to pay for it.

I can only assume you mean that the government is funding this.

Correct ?
why not? in my opinion, we should be submitting rfp for Pareto Optimal solutions from academia and using socialism to leverage those research and development costs.

Maybe if you read the LINK. It might enlightened you before making such comments.
This is the main reason and only reason this project came to light again because foreigners are investing. Not tax payers because that was block 2 years ago.
why was it blocked and not the drug war?

By the time southern Californians pack up the car, fight traffic and get all the way out to Victorville, it would make more sense to just keep driving another 2 1/2 hours rather than park your car, unload all your shit, and wait to get on a train.
All this so you can get to Vegas, have no car to use, wait for transportation to your hotel, ride the train back, find out your car was broken into, pay for parking, and drive home.

Sounds like something out of a Chevy Chase vacation movie.

I didn't make any comments. I asked questions.

The link provides minimal information.

100 million initial capital for a train line. Really ? That's just some seed money.

I want to know the funding plans.

That was directed to Danielpalos not you.

This has nothing to do with drug war.

This has nothing to do with drug war.
dear; it has to do with funding.

Just like what I previously mentioned. You may want to read the link for you to understand this topic. Or maybe you don't want to understand.
This will be funded by Chinese. So explain how, why and what is the drug war has anything to do in funding this HSR.

The whole thing ?

I didn't get that.

100 million hardly gets it started. That's not the funding.

I never said the whole thing cost $100 millions that is just the initial.
From what I read 2 years ago and NOT exactly sure of these numbers. The estimate was $6.7 to $10 billions. And the environmental study will take 2 years cost $30 millions.
If they planted $100 millions why can't they finance the whole project? Just a thought

That is the question.

It isn't unheard of for a company to start something like this and let the government finish it

What happens when the thing runs over by a factor of 2 or 3x ?

If there was a descent profit to be made...I suspect others would be doing it.

I just don't trust this kind of stuff.

I don't know the plan. I have not heard much except they are initially funding $100. Millions.
BTW. You keep digging. What do you want me to tell you?
So far Danielpalos has not answer my question.

We could get a computer simulation and a profit making game out such studies.

This high speed railway will be an expensive boondoggle which will dump American dollars into Chinese hand. And the taxpayers will be expected to subsidize it. And no one is going to use it, because most people have cars in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and it will never be cheaper than a tankful of gas to get a train ticket.

I agree. We taxpayers will end up building something so that folks in California can take a high speed train to Las Vegas. Infrastructure my ass.

AMTRAK has been losing money for years and yet we taxpayers are still funding that bottomless pit.
