China to Help Build Las Vegas-to-Los Angeles High-Speed Railway

So if I have other alternative aside from driving or flying. A bullet train will be nice.

This high speed railway will be an expensive boondoggle which will dump American dollars into Chinese hand. And the taxpayers will be expected to subsidize it. And no one is going to use it, because most people have cars in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and it will never be cheaper than a tankful of gas to get a train ticket.

You don't know or haven't experienced LA traffic. Many, many people there take public transportation because the congestion is overwhelming. It's cheaper than wasting a tank just sitting in jammed vehicles packed on the freeway at "rush" hour. Vegas has a much better road system because the casinos are supporting them through the high taxes they pay thanks to the gamblers' pocketbook.
You know nothing about me. I was raised in California and I occasionally visit friends in California. Congestion is bad until Victorville, but after that it's not too bad.

Also, a high speed train will be competing with busses (for the poorest of the poor) and planes (which take 1 hour).

So there are already three ways to get from Los Angeles and Las Vegas. A high speed train is not necessary. It's a boondoggle project that will suck taxpayers dry.

It won't create jobs for Americans, it will open a railway for immigration of hordes of Chinese. Their continent is so overpopulated they are looking to shift some bodies to our "frontier".
Its between LA and Las Vegas. How are they going to immigrate on it?

It's a big project and that was the problem Gov. Brown run into but China is in vesting a big chunk of this project.

At least china will do it as congress has no interest in America's infrastructure

A unit of CCRC, China's largest train maker, has signed a deal to help build a high-speed bullet train railway linking Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

CRRC also last week broke ground on a factory in the U.S. that will manufacture trains for Boston's subway system as part of a $556 million deal that China CNR, now part of CRRC, won almost a year ago.

Harry Reid and his son is making big dollars now...

How in the world you know that? Do you live here in California? By car going to Vegas from Orange County will take you 4 to 6 hours on Fridays or worse during holiday's. Returning on Sunday will take you at least 6 hours unless you want to leave Las Vegas real early.
Did you ever try to take this trip?

Bullshit.

I'm in Yorba Linda.

But more importantly, I can hop on SouthWest out of Ontario and get there in 40 minutes.

The screening process will be a lot faster on high speed rail, and that time needs to be taken into account

Maybe, the casinos will contribute funds for construction. They often help with low fares to get bodies there to gamble.

Did you consider it could become the first leg of a route further to the east?

Great news! This would strengthen the economy, create jobs and be good for our country.

Right, because there was no way to get to Las Vegas.

It's not like you can buy a ticket on SouthWest for $59 and get there in 40 minutes from Ontario.

Hey, but the high speed rail will get you there in less than 3 hours and only cost $249 each way. People will flock to it...

A bus ticket from LA to Vegas costs a whopping...ten dollars.

The difference in a bus and high speed rail is phenomenal.

How long does it take you and back?

I believe we should invest in existing railroad infrastructure and upgrade railroads to 100 mph, minimum.

In that manner, freight can subsidize passenger service until population densities enable greater profitability.

Several minor factors that need to be considered when converting current railroad system to HSR (high speed rail) system.
1. The degree of (curves) angles or turning radius has to be wider. All high speed train try to have a straight lines as much as it can.
2. Currently our railroad runs through middle of cities designed to stop/go to drop off/pick up shipping containers.
3. At the start of constructions all railway system tracks are shutdown. Meaning there will be no shipments of products coming out of Los Angeles county pier and that might take 2 years (not sure) or longer to complete. That will take tremendous impact to our economy.
My 2cents suggestion is a dedicated HSR network.
I rode HSR in Europe from Paris to Lyon, France and in Tokyo to Nagoya, Japan and its awesome.

ok; here is my two-cents worth and i raise you another cent; why not advance the science of upgrading railroads in a manner analoguous to our inter-State freeway system that even handle traffic while under construction?

They will need it when they drop the EMP on the country, wipe out the power grid and wipe out most of our population....their new colonists will use that track to move inland.....
