Colin Powell...Who Is He, Again?

He's a bitter person. I think he finally realized that he got where he was because of Affirmative Action. Clearly, backing Obama shows he does not have the intellectual capacity to succeed without a boost

Based on his rank, I'd bet on intellectual ability ....but I can easily prove he is no more than a stooge for Obama...

....watch this:

When Powell blabbered about some out of context- remarks, 'shuck and jive,' and 'he's lazy,'...remember, Powell shrugged them off, saying

"Obama shouldn’t be that concerned. That term slips out from time to time…"

Oh...wait....he didn't say that. No, he tried to give cover to Obama's choice of Hagel!

"But conspiracy theories about Jewish control of the government are nothing to take seriously.

GREGORY: You brought up Israel. He referred to a “Jewish lobby,” saying it intimidates a lot of people on Capitol Hill. What kind of thinking does that reflect? Can you understand pro-Israel senators being concerned by that comment?

POWELL: They shouldn’t be that concerned. That term slips out from time to time… Chuck should have said “Israeli lobby,” not “Jewish lobby”–and, perhaps, he needs to write on a blackboard a hundred times, “It is the Israeli lobby.”

Everyone makes a slip sometimes. So long as it’s nothing big. If Hagel had said something truly offensive, like calling Obama lazy, that would be something to be truly concerned about."
Colin Powell Claims Calling Obama ?Lazy? is Racist, but ?Jewish Lobby? is Fine

Powell is simply an Axelrod of a different shade.

Let's hear the apologists on the board explain that.

There was no data in that post. Nothing that backs up your charge anyway. He was a big part of the Republican party, so who should know better than an insider? That may not be data, but it is logic. I'll take that any day over what you gave us.

I know you're a fool.....but I didn't realize your eyesight was that bad.
Here, again...facts (data):

Colin Powell has been given honors that few of us ever accrue: He has been National Security Advisor, he has been Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, and even the United States Secretary of State.

2. Every one of those positions awarded at the behest of a Republican. And I’m certain he was aware of the political party that felt he deserves those awards. He even claimed to be a member of that party.

That's why I say he knows what he's talking about. Sure he got the honors, but he saw the unpleasant underbelly to. You're just mad because this isn't Daily Kos or HuffPo, but someone who really knows from the inside. Rant all you want. He's someone Americans respect, making it hard for baseless accusations to stick, and that's what's getting your goat.

if he saw the unpleasant underbelly, then why did he fall back on something as silly as a FORMER GOP governor using the word "lazy" when describing Obamas first debate performance?

Afterall, many on the left said he came across as lethargic....Gore blaming the thin air.

Since when was "lazy" a racist term?

Why was that the best he came up with? If he saw it all....why not report it all?

Who is Colin Powell? He's the guy that gave it to you straight and then was attacked as a traitor and a RINO for it, that's who.

Can you explain his extraordinary career in the context of his portrayal of Republicans?

And then...

"Sure he got the honors..."

What size shoe does your mouth take?

What does that prove? He's seen both sides of the party and is reporting on the side you don't want revealed. Deal with it. I think you should be more worried about the shoe he put up your butt.

he referred to a GOP former governor using the word "lazy" after a "lazy" debate performance by the President.

That is revealing obvious racism?

So now "lazy" is a racist term?

Franks says it was Affirmative Action on the part of the Republicans and that he didn't deserve the career in the first place. I guess that's what Powell was talking about.

Yeah. Sure. Powell sits down and reads Franks posts on a daily basis.

You're sad, sick person, Frank. Truth hurts on both counts, eh?

Did you know that Bill Clinton claimed that Powell owed his promotions to affirmative action?

… President Bill Clinton
argued that Colin Powell, promoted
to brigadier general during Mr.
Alexander’s tenure, was the product
of an affirmative action program.

"Clearly that’s the worst case of racism, since the time someone called Obama “stupid” or “Socialist” or “incompetent” or criticized him in any way."

He is stooge who has always been a Judas....he could have prevented the entire Wilson-Plame fraud ....but he didn't.

No loyalty. No honor.
And only a dunce like you would give credence to his current claims.

3. “COLIN POWELL: THERE’S A ‘DARK VEIN OF INTOLERANCE’ IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

a. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell — who split with the Republican Party to endorse President Barack Obama two times — said Sunday there are some clearly racial elements within the GOP.

b. “There’s also a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party,” Powell said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

c. While not mentioning former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu by name, Powell referenced past comments from each about Obama as evidence of racism in the party."

4. Seems it’s time to give the general a bit of instruction….and, perhaps, see who the real racist is.

5. A rule of life, that all would do well to learn early on, is that reality is defined by actions….not words. Perhaps some examples? “The check is in the mail,” or “I’ll respect you in the morning.”

6. In fact, 'the reality lesson' shows up as a major difference between Liberals, for whom “feeling passes for knowing,” and conservatives, for whom data informs policy.

7. Now, the general, who avows to be a Republican, but has voted for the most Liberal President we’ve ever had, twice, now gives cover- again- to Obama’s failure to cut spending by dangling this ‘racist’ red herring.

8. Seems to me that the general has become the race-card croupier,

9. Could not the phrases that Powell points to as indicia of racism be, merely, common phrases? Could not the racism be a figment of Powell’s psychology, or an attempt to ingratiate himself in other precincts?

a. Show me the actions….don’t babble!

10. Let’s go back to #5, above, and demand data rather than conjecture: : He has been National Security Advisor, he has been Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, and even the United States Secretary of State. All due to Republicans.

a. Looks to me like some ‘racism’ lots of folks would like directed at them!

You can barely spell "bigotry."

Darn sure you don't recognize any.

a turncoat? because he's mortified by the radical rightwingnuts who have hijacked his party?

lol..

you should have the same level of public service as he does... but keep sitting at your computer talking about someone like him.

From now on anytime he speaks on racism he has no credability, I mean come on, calling Obama lazy is racists, saying he's shucking and jiving is racist. Give me a break.

Thanks so much for sharing Gayle, as well as being intolerant you've also made clear your propensity to be cavilous and to always attack the person and never the argument. In the spirit of this and all of your threads my retort will be simple and to the point: You are bitter, nasty, self righteous, arrogant and bright enough to know how to use a thesaurus making you at least two standard deviations south of how you want to be perceived.

Of course, when Biden makes fun of indian accents...thats not racist...it was just a poor choice of words. And when Harry Reid referred to Obama, a Harvard graduate, as "clean and articulate", it wasnt racist either.

Afterall, ANYTIME Reid sees a white ivy league school graduate, the first thing he thinks of is how clean and articulate he is.
