My parents PAID for my school lunches and I PAID for my childrens' lunches. If I had any advantage as a child it was that my father went to work every day and earned the money it took to live up to his own personal responsibilities. Try it yourself. OK so we all got portion of our lunch paid for. That's fair. Some people got all of their lunch free. They consider it fair, but is it fair to the others that pay for their lunch.

If a certain portion of the population places less importance on education and they have a disproportionate level of poverty, that is not the fault of racism, or rich people not paying their fair share, it is the fault of the people who don't place a high priority on education.
If another group thinks a lawless life style is the choice for them, it is not the fault of the law abiding that a lot of the group goes to prison. It is not the fault of private contractors that build and run prisons either.

We should capitalize school lunches. I think that's kind of what my HS did, though I'm not positive. I just recall having a lot of choices; there was the cafeteria which most folks felt sucked (there was this one burrito thing I loved "Taco Snack" so I got that once a week.) Then in the bus lanes out front the meal truck guys would set up, I know they weren't State/Fed cause there was this one that I tracked to the Saturday Market cause I loved their stuff so much (was a Mongolian beef thing, so damn good.) Then if there was nothing anyone wanted we could go anywhere we wanted in town (aka three fast food joints - now we have five cause Subway and Carl's JR moved out here heh) Though on the latter, my son was telling me that they weren't allowed to leave school grounds anymore - I keep meaning to call and confirm that cause my kido is looking to only have 4 classes next year and I don't want him hanging out at school for no reason.
