All for it...and we will ensure good stewardship too...

Yep. Because despite how much Liberalland folks want to make us the devils of all that is evil re energy, we Conservatives don't want dirty air, soil, or water any more than they do, we apprecviate aesthetic beauty just as much, and with our unfettered free market system, we will come up with ever more fuel efficient and effective vehicles without giving up the fun, and we will solve the problem of what we do for energy if and when the fossil fuels are finally exhausted.

Now that's funny, no thought to alternative energy until conservative America finally realizes that the oil is running out? By then more progressive countries will own every patent and manufacturing facility for non fossil fuel energy production. That, in fact, seems to be the problem at present. When the big strike that makes oil production obsolete inevitably comes, America will not have a piece of it.

Again you don't need to worry your pretty little head. Looking to history it was not liberalism but free market conservatism that moved us from the ox cart to the steam engine to the internal combustion engine. It all happened in good time as it needed to happen without a single government mandate. I trust free market conservatism to move us beyond the internal combustion engine into whatever the future holds and do it all in good time as it needs to happen. And not a single government mandate or tax dollar will be necessary to accomplish that. There is no greater incentive to great things in the world than liberty to dream and explore the 'what ifs'; and no greater motive to accomplish those dreams and what ifs than the demand a free market creates.

And if I'm wrong, then you can look forward to the satisfaction of a "I told you so" at that community picnic on down the line. Meanwhile you folks in Liberalland and bask in the bliss of the totally green energy country that you have said you want.

and they can quarrel over who's going to pay for it since we will be gone as an added bonus. :eusa_shhh:

Are you forgetting that you ran all the fossil fuel heretics off to liberal land? No one who works in the field would stay in a country made up of people who are openly hostile to their line of research. Liberal land would have all of the good tech minded researchers.

Thus why you are failing at this exercise. :eusa_shhh:

Doing much better than you at keeping this somewhat grounded in reality. Let's take a moment to address the conservative attitude towards the educated and ponder why any academic person would stay in conservative land when academics are always the first target of hard-line regimes.

It won't be ANY of your concern. So why ponder anything?

Liberals don't worry about who will pay for it or how or when that will be done. They will have the bottomless pit government they've always assumed they would have if they could just get us obstructionist conservatives out of the way.

It will be interesting to see how that works out for them when we compare notes at the community picnic.

So you equate meritocracy (which is one of the core foundations of conservatism) with a "hard-line regime"? If so, that's kinda revealing.

I am more interested in exactly why conservatives think separatism works in favor of liberty than any specifics of the OP. Care to explain or are you going to continue, like the others, to gloss over the gaping holes in this ridiculously short-sighted plan?

Not your concern, we are divorced and you are not responsible for our care. You guys will be driving solar powered jets while we are driving donkey carts. Congrats!

Meritocracies cannot exist, it is against the nature of human authoritarianism to fairly distribute resources when they can skim off the top and slam the door in people's faces.

At least we'll have the corn to feed the donkeys as our corn won't be going to the ethanol plants.

You are at liberty to question what you don't support being a Statist as is apparent in those politicians YOU support that mean to separate YOU from your liberty.

Nice attempt at the straw dog.

That one doesn't hunt.

I bet you have that written on the inside of your cardboard box don't you?

Glossing over the obvious gaps just as expected. Liberal land gets all the academics except the ones who are looking for proof of the bible and the climate change deniers, good luck getting anything of commercial worth out of them.

No they don't get 'All the acedmics IF they are Conservative and CHOOSE to side with the settlement to our favour...but then a good number of inventors weren't acedemics at all but were good with life, with machinery, and saw a niche, and a need and THINKING... and thier understanding of practicality stood out and they changed the world.:eusa_shhh:

Nice try..but press on, will you?

God I hope so. We're perfectly willing for you to have all the liberal professors in modern day academia and all the pointy heads from the leftist media. We'll be most happy to take Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Star Parker, Shelby Steele, Charles Krauthammer, Brent Bozell, and all the others who understand and articulate conservatism so well. Ya'll think they are all idiots anyway, so you shouldn't mind at all if they don't come along with the academics who will certainly be more comfortable in Liberalland.

In fact, if we are all happy with the energy distribution, we can now move on to education and what each side wants to have from that.

The machine age is over, the age of cybernetics and biology is already upon us and is not receiving a warm welcome in conservative circles. Also you know for a fact that huge areas of research would be off limits and certain subjects will be forbidden from all learning institutions. Any academic worth his sheepskin will be out of conservative land like a shot.

They are still machines. Don't dillude yourself.
