I suspect conservatives, even as they cannot stand Steyer, are thrilled about whatever decision he may have made to that effect.

It's important to note that Steyer attested to his withholding donations to "national Democratic party committees." What is a "national Democratic party committee?" They are the groups noted in the podcast (?) found here -- Audioboom / Megadonor Tom Steyer Stops Giving to Democratic Groups Over the Shutdown Deal -- per 2017-2018 election regulations, he can contribute no more than ~$101K or ~$33K, depending on which it is. 1. The $101 figure applies to a national party committee’s accounts for:
   (i) the presidential nominating convention;
   (ii) election recounts and contests and other legal proceedings; and
   (iii) national party headquarters buildings.
   
   A party’s national committee [in this case, the DNC itself, which is subject to the $33K limit], Senate campaign committee and House campaign committee are each considered separate national party committees with separate limits.
