Quite the contrary of what you guys are babbling about, five of the top 20 are DISNEY products. (Two Marvel Movies, a Pixar movie, Indiana Jones and the Little Mermaid remake). By way of comparison, five of those movies are Chinese movies. So many of the movie making companies are looking to "How can I translate this movie into Mandarin and make the real money at the box office?"

I saw a good article of a reason of the woke entertainment industry. It seems we do pay for it through cable TV and other ways more direct. Streaming though is changing it as the massive profits that the entertainment industry receives is reducing as people quit cable TV. We are forced to pay for channel bundles. So, they can produce any type of entertainment even if a few hundred thousand people watch it nationally. 90 per cent of that entertainment is just that. Peasants are ripped off with the costs of cable. And it is slowly dying as they remain obstinate pushing Progressive Socialist agendas. We are supporting our own deaths.

You can rant about "Woke" Hollywood all day... but they aren't going to start making Guns and Jesus Movies.

If you go back to the list, the movie you are all creaming your jeans about, "The Sound of Free-Dumb", came in 28th place, well below the Disney properties I mentioned.

Might make money becuase it was cheaper to make, and maybe Hollywood could learn something from that. Less CGI, less big explosions, more concentration on story and characters.

Sure you can get a Top Gun that plays on nostalgia, I guess... but is that sustainable? How many times are you going to drag Tom Cruise's corpse out to abuse it? Until he's Harrison Ford's age.

The real problem is Hollywood has found a lot more money is to be made in China than the US. That means simple plots that can easily be translated into Mandarin and won't offend the CCP censors.
