It's a simple question.

He is using a 1906 law to take land via Executive order to create National Monuments. He has already taken 1600 acres in California via Executive order, without the consent of Congress.

This leaked memo shows other areas he wishes to acquire via Executive Fiat.

Who decides what is a monument in this Country? The president by his self, or WE THE PEOPLE via Congress? Shouldn't the people AT LEAST get a vote on what we consider a monument or not?

The current ongoing battle has opened the eyes of Americans, as Obama does whatever he wants without the consent of Congress.

WHAT SAY YOU TO THIS?

yes but only on already public land

the executive order has been reduced at least twice

I understand where you are coming from, but still believe we have given him too much power.

A monument shouldn't be decided by one person, or a small group of people. It should be decided by the people.

i agree

congress can repeal the law

As you ignore the leaked memo..................

I read the memo

A description of potential sites worthy of monument status. From that list, Obama might select one or two. And you start a thread that he is going to designate them all as monuments

Pretty deceptive on your part....dontcha think?

Actions speak louder than words, as he has already taken land via executive order.

Just because he hasn't done them all yet doesn't mean he doesn't intend to do so.

Should we wait to find out if he will do so, or at least inform the Country of his intentions to do so.................

So the public can see the Federal Gov't in plain site, and with it's intentions.

Oh, no, we should hide it.

Which sites from your list have already been designated as monuments?

Which should not have been? Looks like a great list

List of National Monuments of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

President Theodore Roosevelt established the first national monument, Devils Tower in Wyoming, on September 24, 1906.[3] He established eighteen national monuments, although only nine still retain that designation.[4] Sixteen presidents have created national monuments since the program began; only Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush did not.[5] Bill Clinton created the most monuments, nineteen, and expanded three others. Jimmy Carter protected vast parts of Alaska, proclaiming fifteen national monuments, some of which later were promoted to national parks. Barack Obama most recently proclaimed five new national monuments under the Antiquities Act on March 25, 2013.[6]

The error was in assuming that the president would always be an honest man. We have a basically dishonest person in office that would declare your backyard a national monument if it suited him. He is the king, all land is his. We are allowed to remain on his land as a serf.

Under current law he can designate existing federal lands as monuments, of course under the Constitution the feds aren't supposed to have land not required for the actual operation of the government. Just another area where the feds have said screw the Constitution.

Congress is incapable of doing what they are currently tasked to do

You want to add more to their plate?
