That sort of start would have doomed him in a "regular" political party. But that's not the case with the new Republican party. It's nearly five decade quest for every racist vote in the country has led to this, Fascism. Historically, the Republican party started out as the liberal wing of the Whigs and the "Free States" Democrats. It's interest was in propping up the industrial North and freeing the slaves. Through the years it has morphed into a party that protected the interests of the wealthy until the civil rights act passed. Then it actively courted the disenfranchised white Christians of the South. The Election of Barack Obama gave rise to the Tea Party, an ultra right wing bread basket of white Christian theocrats. Trump is the natural progression in this march to outright Fascism. He appeals to those who want "one country, one god and one people who are all the same".

Christians have been responsible for a lot of bloodshed. Almost every major war in human history has included a majority of Christians. And? At both sides of it. A majority of Christians were responsible for the Western Imperialism that has radicalized majority muslim states. This country shares no physical borders with ANY country in the middle east, yet, we have military bases there and troops. Why is that?

And how would you personally respond to a foreign nation invading this country and killing it's people?

But when that fact is brought up as a way to deflect from what is happening right now, today, with Jihadism, it's just that. Deflection.

And deflecting on behalf of a group of people (in this case, Jihadists) is effectively choosing sides and enabling them.

This country has been meddling in the internal affairs of other countries while conducting proxy wars. From Iran's coup to the invasion of Iraq, we've been extremely hostile to the region. And instead of recognizing that folks like Trump have doubled down on the Rhetoric.
