As usual, DemocRATs scream how it “favors the rich” and “raises taxes on the middle class.” And, as usual, it’s nothing but bull poop! This article spells out some of the truths and is worth reading.

Regarding the middle class, Democrats fail to mention that under the new House plan, the standardized deduction would almost double from $6,350 to over $12,000 for single filers, and $12,700 to $24,000 for married couples filing jointly. That means the number of Americans who claim the standard deduction would likely go from 60 percent of all filers to 90 percent.

Critics also fail to mention that the tax credit per child would increase from $1,000 to $1,600.

Additionally, critics don’t admit that the impact of simplifying the tax code would disproportionately help lower- and middle-income taxpayers, most of whom would be able to file their taxes using a simple postcard.

The Ds are playing politics with the tax bill and when 95% of the MSM is on their team, it's easy.

Most middle class folk will get a very small decrease. Why didn't they propose a much larger decrease only for the middle class? If you want extra money in peoples hands then do it. A couple hundred will not spur job growth or more importantly massive wage increases....like double as we have been told.

The tax cut is for the wealthy, double taxation under Salt. It will increase the debt so they will then need to cut social programs, but the wealthy will just keep getting wealthier.

I mean he is choosing heads of the depts. that want to destroy the departs they head.

Are the corps raising wages with the market run up, NOPE, it never trickles down.

It's a tax cut for the rich, and the rich are trying hard to hide the fact, you know it.

We need to scrap our income tax completely and either institute a flat tax on income or a consumption tax.

Until we do that the 4 million word tax code that is so ridiculously complex that even law makers can't understand it will become an 8 million word tax code that not even the best accountants or tax attorneys can understand

Most of the so called middle class pays very little income tax anyway
2/3 of the middle class pay MORE in payroll taxes than income taxes, so a REAL "big beautiful" middle class tax cut would cut payroll taxes instead of income taxes.

But those payroll taxes fund social security and medicare that the middle class uses far more than the rich.

But then again I'm all for getting rid of social security so I agree that payroll taxes should be done away with

Working until one is 70 is no way to go....awful it would be. Retirement is awesome....I highly recommend getting out of the godforsaken rat race and actually enjoying life.

Sounds like a couple of Democrats talking.
The Dems have defrauded the public so many times and now they're trying to trick them into not giving themselves a tax break.
All Democrat want to do is destroy the economy and fuck over taxpayers.

All the GOP wants to do is gouge the middle class. You see neither party likes middle class workers and yes the nation is divided by class...more so than even religion or race.

Tramp is cutting the consumption tax from 35% to 20%.
that's the corporate tax isn't it?

As far as I know we do not have a consumption tax in the US
We have all kinds of consumption taxes in the U.S., you have state and local sales taxes and various excise taxes at the federal level (e.g. gasoline).

We just don't have a uniform, transparent (i.e. right there on the price sticker) consumption tax at the federal level, which is unfortunate since IMHO it would be a FAR more efficient, less subject to corruption and just than the income tax system.

You fail to mention the elimination of personal exemptions which at $4050 per person is a total of $16,200 for family of 4. Sure the child tax credit goes up by $600 but that expires the year the kid turns 17.

Let's consider the taxpayer who supports a family of 4 consisting of a couple with one dependent being a high school senior and another in college. Their standard deduction of $12,700 + exemption of 4 x $4050 currently allows them to shield a total of $28,900 from taxes. Under the proposed plan a standard deduction of $24,000 would only apply, exposing an extra $4,900 to federal taxes.

Things will work out well for the wife and I who are both retired. If our 3 adult sons were 13 years younger and split between high school and college then I would be very concerned.
