No, they didn't. If you wanted a firearms permit you first had to be a member of the Nazi Party. They made up less than 10% of the population.

Beyond that, we know the pattern. Even when they get what violations of the Second Amendment they are claiming, at any given time, that they want, they'll always come back later, demanding more. The only end that will ever be reached by compromising with them will be when we are not allowed any exercise at all of our Second Amendment rights. And no compromise was ever legitimate in the first place. The Second Amendment says that this right “shall not be infringed.” Period. End of sentence. Every infringement that we have foolishly allowed them to make has been illegal. Shame on any of us who ever thought that it was reasonable to compromise on this matter.
