We accept that violence is part of nature and always will be. Unlike Euros we don't expect the Government to protect us every second of the day. We protect ourselves. Besides, I'd rather have a dozen active shooters than people driving through crowds in commercial vehicles. Hell, you folks don't even believe in self defense as a legal concept.
