That seems a bit extreme, but if you are in business for yourself in this country, your marginal FIT, SIT and FICA tax rate exceeds 50%. That's before sales tax, property tax, DMV tax and other fees and special assessments. Most employees, on the other hand, don't know and don't care how many taxes are paid on their behalf.
