Father/Daughter Shot Dead; Wounded Mom Shepherds Kids to Safety

This is exactly why I have a CCW permit in every State or city I travel.

It's a shame we live in such a gun crazy society. The NRA should be proud of what they've done.
Ahhh! You arm yourself but call others gun crazy. Fucking hypocrite!
I've got several twenties that say this perp was not an NRA member.

MENASHA, Wis. -- The Stoffel family set out on a bike ride on a beautiful spring evening, the young Wisconsin couple and their three children pedaling across a bridge they had ridden before. They were halfway across the Little Lake Butte des Morts when a gunman, apparently upset over a fight with his ex-fiancee, opened fire.

By the time the gunman shot himself, Jonathan Stoffel, 33, of Neenah, and his 11-year-old daughter, Olivia Stoffel, were dead in what police called a random attack. Stoffel's wife, Erin Stoffel, 32, was struck three times but survived, guiding her other two children, ages 5 and 7, off the bridge and sending the older one for help.

Another man, Adam Bentdahl, 31, of Appleton, was also killed in the attack Sunday in Menasha, a community of around 17,000 about 30 miles south of Green Bay.

Erin Stoffel was rushed into surgery at a nearby hospital and was in critical condition Monday. She is expected to recover, reports CBS affiliate WDJT.
For my mandatory USMB position-taking I'll just cite this from the same article:

Campbell, Erin Stoffel's brother, said people should stop praying about an end for gun violence and take action.

"Instead of praying, do something. Do something about guns," he said. "When you kill, you can't take it back. Nobody needs a gun."

Nobody needs a gun???? Seems like this family was defenseless against a gun. Perhaps having their own in this situation would have saved lives.

Or was this a "gun free zone" where only criminals have weapons?

Uhh... perhaps not. You don't go out for a walk in the park with your family expecting gun nuts.
If you do, you live in one hell of a fucked up place.

No one expects it. But, just like you don't go on a drive expecting to get in an accident, you still have car insurance don't you.

These would be far less upsetting if these assholes would start with themselves and skip taking innocent bystanders who had nothing to do with their problems.

The problem of course is they will use jet airliners, or cars, or pickup trucks, or a gallon of gasoline.
Assholes are assholes. They murder people because they are assholes.

Actually they won't -- you can't pick people off from a distance with that stuff. The objective is not murder; it's carnage. If the objective were murder then yes any of these methods and many more including hiring a hit man while establishing an alibi elsewhere. But that's not what gun nuts are after. They're after sensory feedback. That's why their victims are random -- it doesn't matter who they are. What matters is the blood and the screaming and the suffering.

No amount of disarming the other 90 million legit people is going to make it impossible for assholes to be assholes.

It would be nice if you could. But the reality is those laws save no one, and in fact harm more than are hurt.

Nobody brought up "disarming" anybody. But the only harm done here was by the armed guy. To paraphrase Bob Costas, if he hadn't been armed it's safe to say the whole family would be alive today.

Tell that to all those people killed by out of control drivers, or the families of the 149 victims of the airliner the asshole pilot flew into the ground.

By definition that's not the same thing. The former would be accidental and the latter was killed along with everybody else. Neither of them got sensory feedback.

Nope. There are people who go berserk and intentionally drive their cars into crowds all the time.

Uh --- no, there aren't. I'm sure it's happened, but not anything like the degree of gun fetishism. But when we have every TV channel showing people getting mowed down by cars, when getting mowed down by cars is a standard theme in most movies, when video games give the user a car to run up a score of people run down with a virtual car, then I'm sure we'll have more of all that.

Crazy people everywhere. This is sad. :(

Whenever a crime happens and Matthew doesnt start talking about parents, community, lack of respect etc I know that the victim and the perp is white.

Matthew feels bad when they are white....black people meh...whatevs...but he'll tell you with a straight face "all lives matter"

All live does matter but parenting is a very real problem within the black community. That is just a fact.

I do feel bad when a innocent black person murdered, but you don't seem to want to do anything to make things better.

I agree, but that is not the case as evidenced by this story.
I need one. I own a dozen or so. As a matter of fact, there is a .40 with 11 hallow points in my waist band right now.

Oh fuck you and your bullshit lies. The NRA had nothing to do with this any more than the guy was a latino and everyone knows how violent latinos are. See how ridiculous your statement is? Every bit as ridiculous as mine.

You are truly a tard and there is no way you have a CCW. You're too afraid of guns.

This Is How The Gun Industry Funds The NRA - Business Insider

'
Since 2005, the gun industry and its corporate allies have given between $20 million and $52.6 million to it through the NRA Ring of Freedom sponsor program. Donors include firearm companies like Midway USA, Springfield Armory Inc, Pierce Bullet Seal Target Systems, and Beretta USA Corporation. Other supporters from the gun industry include Cabala's, Sturm Rugar & Co, and Smith & Wesson.

The NRA also made $20.9 million — about 10 percent of its revenue — from selling advertising to industry companies marketing products in its many publications in 2010, according to the IRS Form 990.

Additionally, some companies donate portions of sales directly to the NRA. Crimson Trace, which makes laser sights, donates 10 percent of each sale to the NRA. Taurus buys an NRA membership for everyone who buys one of their guns. Sturm Rugar gives $1 to the NRA for each gun sold, which amounts to millions. The NRA's revenues are intrinsically linked to the success of the gun business.

Identifying the evil and their brain-dead followers is a great start.

See? He didn't mention parenting at all in this thread until blacks are brought up. Curiously he doesn't see a community problem when white people are killed (maybe it's because he's white. Ya think?)

I don't go out with my family expecting to come under fire. I don't sit in my bar counting money at 3 AM expecting to be robbed either, but if I am, I am going to defend myself.

Ahhh! You arm yourself but call others gun crazy. Fucking hypocrite!
I've got several twenties that say this perp was not an NRA member.

I arm myself because we live in a gun crazy society. How many You Tube videos are on-line with a guy strapping a weapon to his chest and takes a walk down the street to video the confrontation with the Police? That is crazy. Do we really want this to be the norm?

How many people saw the guy who was armed walking into Santa Monica College and didn't call police because they thought this is the norm?

The NRA takes 10's of millions of dollars from gun manufacturers....who do you think they work for?

That may be the dumbest, most hypocritical thing you've ever posted...and that's really saying something.

You didn't think that all the way through before you hit reply did you.

One P is a liar of the first order, and no, he rarely thinks before he posts. That being said, it is the policies HE advocates, that has made society as violent as it is. I wonder if he will ever have the moral courage to admit that fact.
