Finally!!!

We have a crisis because of stupid immigration laws put into place years ago get rid of those laws secure the border and you won’t have a crisis humanitarian or otherwise. Both parties are more interested in ignoring the problem so they can use it for political a issue than they are solving it.
It's not just our laws, but it is part of a Treaty, that we got 2/3's vote by the Senate on it to ratify it and a President signed it, making it the law of the land.
Treaty’s can be undone and those causing us major problems now should be.
I suppose that is true, but it ain't as easy as it would be, if it were just a law....
nipping it in the bud, down were it is taking place in Central America, would likely be easier...
It might be but with corrupt or ineffective governments in Central America that doesn’t seem to likely.

Bull shat!

How do you plan on stopping this crisis that is going on right now?

Trump is causing it to be worse, by shutting down the border entry points to where only a few refugee seekers are allowed through a day... the courts are not manned with enough Immigration judges to hear their asylum seeking cases.... causing a years wait, for them to have their day in court.... which is the LAW for asylum seekers.

this is forcing them to cross over illegally by the masses, and over loading our border patrol and keeping them from doing their jobs in catching illegals and drug dealers and human traffickers....

The law states on asylum seekers, (not illegal Mexicans crossing) that once they set a single foot on American soil and are seeking asylum, they HAVE TO BE GIVEN a court hearing to hear their case....

so they are crossing any which way they can.

If the border crossing points were manned, and the Immigration courts were manned so that it takes only a few weeks instead of 6 months to a year to be heard by a Judge, we would NOT have this major problem.

And if the damn State department would DO THEIR JOBS and get the heck down to these Central American countries and work to alleviate the problem down there, this crisis would have an end in sight....

But noooooooooo, Trump WANTS them to be forced to cross outside of the legal border crossings so he can make this in to his phony National emergency...

YOU ARE BEING HAD.
BUILD A WALL........as for asylum seekers, we all know those claims are bullshit.........just change the law and say unless you have some real evidence, you will be dna tested and sent home, a second time you will be jailed and if you try a third time.....lets just say.......you disappear........stay in your own country.......we don't know want your sorry ass here, UNLESS you go through the process LEGALLY

google is your friend! ;)

If a person arrives on US soil and claims asylum, does the US have to deal with their claim under international law?

Yes. Not only does the US have an international legal obligation to do so, based on the requirement of complying with the object and purpose of the 1951 Refugee Convention, and implementing legal obligations in good faith, it has an obligation to do so under its own domestic law.

What's your legal plan that would bring immediate help to this crisis?
Well the first question is why does it take so long?

LOL, the left never uses it.

As a result of events occurring before 1 January 1951 and owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.

how hard is it to determine this? Like Honduras? What people fit that|? Find out if someone is in that group and then deport them, when we find out they aren't. We should be able to process a shit ton a day.........and if they come back automatically deny them.....again with either jail or "disappearance"......people need to learn......we're not your dumping ground for peasants and rabble.

Well the first question is why does it take so long?
it's taking a long time for the process, BECAUSE we are under staffing our points of entries, and under staffing our immigration courts to hear their cases, which is over-loading our holding cells, and giving unbelievable wait times.

Once an asylum seeker is denied refugee status, they are sent back to their homes and if they try to cross again illegally... not at border crossings, after this denial... it becomes a felony... if at border crossings, they are simply denied entry....

Ok good, so the problem is more money for those immigration courts and border patrol? I also think we should have a wall to stop the illegal crossings and for those waiting, maybe we should develop a place to keep them all until the case is resolved, so we can keep them out of the general population and keep the families together.....

All good ideas worth considering...

a wall alone won't fix it.... they will find ways over and under it...

but truly, we need a way to keep them in their own countries and not making this dangerous trip coming here for rescue... we need to get to the root of this problem.... somehow....?

I think a wall is a great start....it makes it harder, which is the point....and helps the border patrol funnel them to places.
But yes, we do need to fix the system, bigtime. Really we need to say if you come here illegally you get nothing........and as far as their own countries, you'd have to get rid of these corrupt regimes......not sure how to do that, but we need to come up with something

We need to get back to a proper definition of refugee: someone being persecuted by his government. Being a victim of crime, domestic abuse or poor economic circumstances does not justify refugee status. We also need to exempt anyone who just shows up at the border from refugee status. We have embassies and consulates throughout the world at which they can apply.

I couldn't agree more.......it's not our job to take in the rabble of the Earth

We've taken in the thousands and thousands and thousands of Mariel boat lift Cubans as refugees, the Somalians as refugees, the Syrians as refugees, the Irish as refugees, the Haitians as refugees, the Iraqi as refugees, the Nicaraguans as refugees, the Venezuelans as refugees, the Italians as refugees, the Liberians as refugees, the Chinese as refugees, the Russians as refugees, the Vietnamese as refugees etc etc etc...

What makes what you call the rabble of the earth, that we have taken in over the years, different now? What has made you go "all snowflake" on the issue? Or what makes you believe that it is important that we CHANGE and not be a refuge for the tired, the poor, the hungry, the meek, as we have ALWAYS been?

Maybe it is because our wages with inflation, have stayed flat for the past 40 years and the few are getting ahead? Maybe because people are not truly religious anymore? Maybe we have just all become waxed over cold, as Bible prophesy predicted? dunno? I suppose that is the $64,000 question....?

It's an invasion that needs to be stopped. Democrats should be arrested and hung.

I was thinking of what to say, and that works!

Look, we can either make our southern border DMZ-ish, with mines and motion-sensor Vulcan guns, or build a wall.

This is no false dichotomy bullshit, it's either/or, faggots! Mines and machine guns, or a wall? If you say "no wall", it's mines and machine guns, bitches!

Either way, that border will be secured.

What exactly are Democrats doing that you think is causing the crisis we are in, RIGHT NOW?

huh?

Other than Trump trying to use this as a campaign issue, so he does what he does best, point the finger elsewhere to cause division, what has he or the Republicans done to help stop this crisis or make it less of a crisis instead of worse the past 2 years when they were in control of both houses and the presidency? Remember, Dems gave him 25 billion for immigration and border security and THIS PRESIDENT turned that DOWN well over a year ago.... Why did he do that???
