On the other hand (the remaining 20%), the benefits of drinking water are grossly oversold. As my urologist told me one time, "If you are thirsty, drink something." Drinking "8 glasses of water a day," will do nothing but exercise your bladder and your feet, and add nothing to health - the only exception being if you are prone to getting kidney stones.

Remember, there are many cultures in the world (Asia, Africa, southern Italy), where they essentially NEVER drink water, and there is no indication that lack of water shortens their lifespans.
