First satelite imagery of attack

Your reports say one thing, real reports say close to 20 aircraft. Funny because less than an hour ago you said there was only proof of ONE aircraft being destroyed.

Real reports? You mean one isolated pentagon official not in charge of the attack? The pentagon is initially wrong 100% of the time. Either via bad intel or outright lying.

The Russian Defense Ministry said 6 Mig-23 aircraft under repair were destroyed. The only evidence of wrecked planes are Mig-23 floggers, substantiating their claim. That's about 11 million in damages. Let's say another 3 million in damages was done to the hangars and other base facilities.

A 100 million dollar airstrike for 14 million in damages? Now you have the Russians reinvesting triple that to secure Syrian air defenses.

Unscathed: This collection of five jets on al-Sharyat Air Base somehow escaped the bombing raid, despite being located out in the open, on a patchy grass plain

Escaped: While many of the shelters were badly hit in the attacks, some - such as those visible far in the background - were not.

That first image is a squadron of Mig-21 Fishbeds (180,000$) just in case you didn't know.

Initial reports indicate Syrian airbase 'almost completely destroyed' after US strike
Syrian jets take off from air base hit by US

Two Syrian jets took off today from the air base that was hit by U.S. missiles and carried out strikes on areas under ISIS control in the countryside of eastern Homs, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Syrian government responded to Thursday night's U.S. strike on its Shaayrat air base by quickly fixing the base and allowing the two planes to take off from there, the human rights organization said.

A U.S. official said Syrian planes took off from the base today but did not confirm the action taken by the plane.

The official noted that up to 20 Syrian aircraft were destroyed in Thursday's airstrikes but added that the missiles did not no target every aircraft at the base and that the runway was untouched.

Now look at the numbers... 20 aircraft at $100 MILLION each. $2 billion in damage, that will do a world of hurt.
To put it the way Tramp would say it, 20 aircraft according to the people who said there were WMD in Iraq.

Yeah and they have basically no actual offensive use, and thus why they were not primary targets.

Actually those fishbeds are being used to engage Israeli aircraft entering the region. Taking them out would of vastly reduced Syria's defensive capabilities in their contested South-west region.

They are old and mostly used as trainer jets and for recon, not battle. Israeli fighters would eat those things alive.

They lie ALL the time. After every attack. The pentagon is an institution of bullshit, which is why it rustles my feathers when they make absurd claims without any evidence.

Remember the Yemen raid not to long ago? 14 terrorists killed and no civilian casualties. Wait! It turns out later that the organizations on the ground confirmed 23-30 civilian deaths and 8 terrorists killed.

That was a painful post to read... I think I get your point on it not being a reliable assertion similar to the wrong assertion of WMD's made by Powel.... glad we got your point all cleared up... So what are you driving at here? some overate the strike and some underrate the strike.... such is life my friend....

No, none of them are used by the Syrian airforce as trainer jets. What motivates you to lie?

They use the L-39 albatros as their jet trainer, one of the most popular military aircraft trainers ever produced.

You need to do more research... and the fact you think they can deal with Israeli warplanes is funny.

Of course they can. An Israeli F-15 Strike Eagle squadron would be mince meat to a 5 plane air squadron of Mig-21 Fishbed fighter jets. Of course they wouldn't send them out against an F-35 Lightning II , because they have much more advanced Su-24 squadrons for that task.

Well its a good thing that the Israeli planes would more likely be F-16's instead, since those are the most widely used ones they have... and the F-16 has ALWAYS been able to out fly a MiG.

The F-16 is twice as fast as the Mig-21, but it must fly at low speeds to perform effectively in combat missions. If an area was susceptible to airstrikes, then a squadron of Mig-21 could run CAP interference. If the F-16 reduced speed in the combat zone it would be intercepted.

And look, I'm not saying Mig-21 are excellent fighter aircraft. They are not. However they are cheap, reliable, and can get the job done.

Why has this thread devolved to this.? You two go watch top gun then have a homo erotic volley ball game together.

A don't know shit about anything military liberal doing a critique of a military mission with questionable information from a liberal propaganda source is a wasted BW like all of the others started by the same op-ster as all of the rest, a BS feel good about being a stupid liberal post.

Wrong...there is a long video and several pictures showing several heavily damaged "hardened bunkers" with ruins in...but of course that doesn't fit your agenda.

Of course last night you said that the missiles would do ZERO damage to these bunkers.

Believing Onyx, in his hate filled state is like believing Susan Rice! In his state of mind, he has lost all reason. He thinks by posting enough lies around here someone will believe one of his tales.

Isaac apparently thinks carpet bombing is a better choice than missiles, Lets see what would be needed to mount an aerial bombing raid, and what would the exposure to loss of life and equipment be!! I'll take the Missiles. Armchair computer game warriors lose to real military forces EVERYTIME. because of real world FACTS.
