Wtf? No but the doctor might have a conversation with the parent(s) about the dangers to kids if parents leave loaded, unsecured guns laying around the house.

Kinda like when doctors talk about accidental poisoning. Or the danger of swimming pools. Or the danger of not vaccinating.

Why would you have a problem of doctors discussing with their patient/parents actions they could take to improve the health and safety of their kids? Actions like making sure guns are secure. Poisons are secure. Swimming pools are monitored and fenced. Etc.

You do know doctors are all about saving lives. Right?

No, doctors are about practicing medicine to save lives--not giving personal opinions or advice on how to raise a kid.

The NRA (in most all of their classes) do teach people about securing their firearm especially around children.

For a long time, securing a firearm in the house meant dad hung it over the mantle where he could grab it on his way out of the house and few got hurt. Now we have to remove kids from the home because there's a gun in a safe?

The UK had 400 murders last year. (Only 48 with guns). Germany had 600 (only 250 with guns). Japan had only 11 murders with guns out of some 600.

We had 16,000 murders, 11,000 of them with guns. Getting rid of the guns really does reduce the murder rate.

Other countries are mostly single race people. Other countries have real prisons that people fear going to. You can't blame anything on guns alone. Guns don't kill people--people kill people.

As for my point about drugs, as illegal as they are, people who want them still get them. In fact, people are getting illegal narcotics more than ever today.

Banning guns will have the exact same result: bad guys will get them and good guys will not be able to. That being the case, the only reasonable thing to do is allow law abiding citizens to be armed as well. After all, even if you don't carry a firearm or have one in your home, the idea that you might is what helps keep you safe.

It says that the reason is that it is "necessary for the security of a free state". Nothing restricting it to law enforcement, national defense or even hunting. Society decided long ago that preventable death is a price it is willing to pay to secure freedom. Do you drive a car faster than 25 mph? After dark? Have you ever gone hiking on a mountain?
