"A high school football coach known for praying on the field after games has been placed on paid administrative leave after Satanists asked to hold their own invocation at Thursday night's game.

Bremerton School District, located near Seattle, said late Thursday that coach Joe Kennedy had been placed on leave for his "refusal to comply with the District’s lawful and constitutionally required directives that he refrain from engaging in overt, public religious displays on the football field while on duty as a coach."

Kennedy had been asked not to pray on the field after games, but has continued to do so and has even threatened to sue the district.

He was placed on leave shortly after the local chapter of the Satanic Temple said it had been invited by at least one student to give an invocation on the field after the game."

I don't see what is so "Satanic" about the law-worshipping, non violent, completely uncriminal "Satanic Temple".

I can possibly understand if they were to restrict themselves to embracing the Lucifer archetype... Lucifer the Light Bringer, a symbol of enlightenment and liberation... but Satan? The alleged Source of all Evil? If one were to embrace the archetype of Satan I would think it fitting to embrace "evil". Some consideration needs to be given to the fact that they were liberal men, who founded a non-religious nation, but they were also fucking their slaves and treating women and children as property. They built what worked for them, it's hardly unfair that we do the same, now is it?

I'd suggest someone look up Lee v Weisman, 1992

" In Lee v. Weisman (1992), the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional the offering of prayers by religious officials before voluntarily attended ceremonies such as graduation. Thus, the Court established that the state could not conduct religious exercises at public occasions even if attendance was not strictly compulsory. In Lee the Court developed the coercion test. Under this test the government does not violate the establishment clause unless it (1) provides direct aid to religion in a way that would tend to establish a state church, or (2) coerces people to support or participate in religion against their will."


The coach coerced NO ONE to join him in his prayer after the game.

If his attorney is bright enough to use this as a defense, the coach wins.
