For discussion: Poverty is a Choice.

Many people born in the US will look at immigrants and wonder why they, for the most part, do so well in such a short time. It's because most are willing to struggle so that their kids can go to good schools and do better then them.

It only takes one generation for a family to go from poor to middle class. Parents need to be willing to sacrifice for their childrens future.

Not only that, in many cultures, children are expected (and do) to help their parents after their children are established and working. This isn't something we see often in North America. It's also quite common to see this in larger French/Catholic families here, can't speak for there of course.
some persons have no excuse to be, infidel, protestant, or renegade to "cultural policy".

Literacy is important. Children are expensive. If people don't learn those two simple rules they will very likely be poor and why feel sorry for them?
the poor have an excuse to make poor lifestyle choices; the right only has the cognitive dissonance of complaining about both, the cost of an ounce of prevention and the cost of a pound of cure.

And let's be honest now that the election is over. If you are poorly educated blue collar there isn't much trumps gonna do for you. Hes not bringing jobs back and he's not going to slow immigration.

Yes. Indeed.

Depends on who you ask.

If you ask responsible people who are doing their best in this world to improve themselves, then yes.

If you ask the people who want to sponge off the government, waiting for their handouts while changing "woe is me" and "who will help us", then no.

Just a little side note. Back in the late 1990's, the fast food chain, Hardee's, closed their restaurants here in Memphis because they couldn't get anyone to work. They were offering between $6.00 and $6.50 an hour to start. Seems that most of the people who applied either told them they wanted more and wouldn't work for a penny less, or that they could make more off welfare.
There is no unemployment problem under capitalism, only underpayment.

The right wing, conveniently omits capitalism's natural rate of unemployment. It is an important concept that cannot be overlooked by the right, if they want to be taken more seriously, by some on the left.

Whose fault is it that those capitalists were not willing to work harder for less profit, to get better help.

Yes, but Only the Religious are able to accomplish it for free. Socialism requires social morals for free to accomplish a Heaven on Earth.
Since there is no heaven better to make this time heavenly. Or as close as possible.
all it requires, is capital morality for a market friendly price.

imagine all of the goodness of a moral of goodwill toward men that, could flourish, with a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and fourteen dollars an hour for unemployment compensation, simply for being unemployed.

True. The market decided. Hardy's went out of business because they weren't willing to pay a wage that was worth the effort.

Republicans would like to remove welfare so people have no choice but to take the $6 hr job

The less we spend the less we are taxed?

A work ethic from the Age of Iron for Labor, but an employment ethic from the Age of Corporate Welfare for Capitalists?

let's end our wars on crime, drugs, poverty, and terror, to end our income tax.

Let's cut every government agency in half. Do you think we would survive?

And in 8 years let's make senators and house members be part time for half the pay and senators don't live in Washington they attend meetings remotely.

We don't have to keep doing the status quo

No I'm a liberal but I do believe the income tax is unconstitutional.

the power to tax has always been there. it is about the Beast not needing so much food.

Why do we need our wars on crime, drugs, poverty, and terror, if no one is willing to pay wartime tax rates for them?

It cannot be real times of war, without real times of war tax rates, under any form of real and not fiat, Capitalism.
