Fox's James Rosen Investigated by Justice Dept; Personal E-Mails subpoenad

DOJ lied to the judge to get the warrant. They had no evidence against Rosen, they were trying to set him up to discredit Fox, since Fox is the only news outlet that doesn't bend over for Obama. He is a tyrant, and it's becoming more and more obvious every day.

DOJ lied to the judge to get the warrant.
How do you know?
They told the judge Rosen was involved in a criminal conspiracy with N. Korea. He clearly was not, or there would have been indictments. You liberals will gladly sacrifice every Constitutional amendment and the Bill Of Rights for Obama, won't you? Y'all are a bunch of punkass bootlickers.

And it appears this reporter went to great lengths to cover his trail -- as if he knew it was wrong.

Or maybe he feared being attacked by the Obama Gestapo, which would not be so far fetched considering what we've been seeing lately.

Now it seems that this administration didn't stop with the AP. Now it's been expanded to cover some of Fox News reporters.

The Department Of Justice Targeted A Fox News Reporter During A Leak Investigation

From the Post's report:
Reyes wrote that there was evidence Rosen had broken the law, “at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator.” That fact distinguishes his case from the probe of the AP, in which the news organization is not the likely target.
Using italics for emphasis, Reyes explained how Rosen allegedly used a “covert communications plan” and quoted from an e-mail exchange between Rosen and Kim that seems to describe a secret system for passing along information. [...]
However, it remains an open question whether it’s ever illegal, given the First Amendment’s protection of press freedom, for a reporter to solicit information. No reporter, including Rosen, has been prosecuted for doing so.

Apparently, Rosen had done nothing wrong as no charges or indictments were handed down. Business as usual for the Chicago style administration.
Holder is a piece of work with very dirty hands.

How many times have I heard the following from conservatives regarding gov't wiretapping or investigations:
"If he didn't do anything wrong, he doesn't have anything to worry about."

The Obama admin sure is acting worried.

I call shenanigans. I don't recall anyone claim that it's okay for the Feds to violate the Constitutional Rights of anyone...especially with that excuse.

This is really beyond the pale. A news reporter is named a "co-conspirator" for reporting the news.

The abuse of power by the Obama Administration is out of control..

I just read another piece here on HuffPo:

DOJ's Targeting Of Fox News Reporter James Rosen Met With Outrage

That goes above and beyond what the Justice Department did when it monitored the Associated Press. There, it looked at phone records, not the actual contents of emails.

Perhaps more chilling, the Post reported that, in order to justify its search warrants for Rosen's private correspondence, the Justice Department labeled Rosen a "co-conspirator" with Kim because he made an arrangement with him about how to get him information:

Reyes wrote that there was evidence Rosen had broken the law, “at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator.” That fact distinguishes his case from the probe of the AP, in which the news organization is not the likely target.

It seems there may be a few who would condone such here on this board, but reporters, no matter their left or right status are outraged.

Reading that, it seems even HuffPuff is starting to dislike the Obama Kool-aid.

Dude, you do understand that this IS about freedom of the press, right?

I understand that you want it to be about that. But being a member of the press doesn't mean that a person who just happens to be a reporter is somehow immune from investigation, unlike every other citizen, if there's evidence which reasonably casts suspicion on their activities.

The press has a great deal of leeway on matters involving reporting, but their not immune from our laws. In fact, they're often held to a much higher standard of behavior than the general public because of their position and influence. My understanding is that Rosen regularly entered the Pentagon (with gov't permission, of course) in the furtherance of his job as a reporter for FOX. Well, do you think you could get into the Pentagon and just wander around? No. Well, why in God's name do you think that just because someone is a reporter, they can't be investigated for their activities if they have access to gov't secrets and there's reasonable cause to suspect that someone with their access could have engaged in illegal activity? Should our gov't investigate everyone who had that access EXCEPT reporters? Get real! There's a reason why EVERYONE is subjected to a possible search before boarding an airplane!

Who wants to start laying down bets on when Holder will resign for "personal reasons"? I lay down $10 on July.

Anyone else?

Stop being obtuse. Quit trolling.

He's NOT trolling.

He's SKILLFULLY pointing out the idiocy of your posts.

You've been consistently exposed as an idiot who doesn't understand this story at all.

Exactly what law was broken to obtain a search warrant?

Man oh man are you clueless.

Probable cause... that's all a judge needs to see.

Get up to speed on what a search warrant is, then get back to us.

Oh grow up. Whats with the boldface type, Hazel? You mad? I have consistently whipped many a liberal on these boards, and I've only been here since March! If you have an argument, I'd be glad to hear it. If not, shut the hell up.

Thank you!

Paraphrasing: "These guys are talking way over my head, I better get outta this thread but fast."

You're welcome!!

No. It's not.

It's about the 4th Amendment. A legal search warrant, probably cause.

This is in regards to a 2009 leak probe by the Justice Department into the alleged criminal activity of Fox News justice correspondent James Rosen, after he published stories about North Korea. I surmise that Obama has a very low view of the information gathering methods some reporters use. Freedom of the press? Yeah, you can kiss that goodbye.

Court documents show abundant evidence gathered from Kim’s office computer and phone records, but investigators said they needed to go a step further to build their case, seizing two days’ worth of Rosen’s personal e-mails — and all of his e-mail exchanges with Kim.

Privacy protections limit searching or seizing a reporter’s work, but not when there is evidence that the journalist broke the law against unauthorized leaks. A federal judge signed off on the search warrant — agreeing that there was probable cause that Rosen was a co-conspirator.

No the criminal Rosen got in trouble for stealing classified CIA info!

The Washington Post revealed on Monday that a Fox News reporter had been fingered has a “co-conspirator” in a previous leak of classified documents.

According to the Post, a federal judge found probable cause that Fox News Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen solicited a top-secret CIA report on North Korea from government adviser Stephen Jin-Woo Kim in 2009.

You got anything (except retarded teabagger fear) to back that up?

He is a tyrant, and it's becoming more and more obvious every day.

You Teatards are such butthurt crybabies. When Bush did this, you hardly noticed.

[Alberto] Gonzales did subpoena journalists during his time as Attorney General; he was particularly criticized for subpoenaing San Francisco Chronicle journalists who used leaked grand jury transcripts for a story on steroid use in baseball. He also famously hinted that he would prosecute journalists for espionage for printing national security information.

As you've been told in the other thread -- THEY HAD A LEGAL SEARCH WARRANT SINGED BY A JUDGE.

So.... YOU FAIL.

Again.
