People, listen up.

Calling people fags, queers, homos, ass fuckers, *****, *******, wet backs, perverts, sick, dykes, subhuman, feminazis, evil, etc....

Will result in people in return calling you bigots, racists, homophobes, sexist, misogynists, bullies, assholes, fuckhead face fucks, etc.

If you try to pass laws restricting rights to your specific in group, or legally oppress people, or deny them their rights, or suggest that it should be that way in this country...

Then you are bigots, racists, homophobes, sexist, misogynists, bullies, assholes, fuckhead face fucks, etc.

No one is taking away your right to say bigotted things, no one is taking away your right to think bigotted things, and no one is legally forcing you to personally accept or be anything you are bigotted against. You don't have to get gay married, you don't have to get an abortion, you don't have to give up your religion, you don't have to be black or poor or handicapped or a woman.

But you can't discriminate aginst them. That is unethical, immoral, and illegal. And unconstitutional.

And when you whine about being socially marginalized, just remember: so are Nazis, the KKK, white supremacists, and other relics of a bygone era. The government can't marginalize you, but the rest of society can.

That is all.

Shhhhhhhhh! You may hurt some feelings. If some people cannot say whatever they want and not have consequences.......they get very upset.

And that is why free speech is great. You can say whatever you want, but you will be judged by the people for your opinions. Everyone can so make their decisions what to say and what to believe.

But....but.....but......now some people are afraid to say what they want to say. They fear the consequences. Lost jobs.....public humiliation, etc. Shouldn't we consider how they feel? Don't they have a right to not be afraid to say incredibly stupid things?

You know you agree with me, Missourian, come on now!

Stand for something or fall for anything. I would rather be called silly names by multicultist bigots than see my country destroyed. Thanks.

This country isn't yours. Your country, the Fatherland, died in 1945.
 Are you white?

He doesn't sound like a socialist. :cuckoo:

He is a bit off his rocker I might say...

I thought you were a neo-nazi...? My bad.

Ahem. Your country died in 1964.

True.

The right to free speech pertains solely to the relationship between a person and his government, having nothing to do with the relationship between a private individual and another private person, or group of persons, or a private organization, or private business.

If a private person, or group of persons, or a private organization, or private society as a whole admonishes speech it finds to be offensive, that does not constitute a ‘violation’ of free speech, because private persons or private society lack the authority to enact laws prohibiting free speech and exact punitive measures against private individuals.

Only when government seeks to punish those engaged in ‘prohibited speech’ is the right to free speech in jeopardy.

For example, should government make illegal the use of the word ‘******,’ where those found ‘guilty’ of using the word would be subject to fines and imprisonment, then that would constitute a free speech violation.

If, however, the word were used by a private citizen, in the context of private society, and private society as a whole shunned that individual and relegated him to that of a pariah, that would not be a free speech ‘violation,’ as the individual using the word would not be subject to punitive measures by the state.

Indeed, citizens are at liberty to use that and other equally offensive words free from retribution by the state, as we are in fact a free people and a free society.

And that is why free speech is great. You can say whatever you want, but you will be judged by the people for your opinions. Everyone can so make their decisions what to say and what to believe.

None of that has ever stopped you from saying incredibly stupid things, has it?

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

You keep confusing rights and the protections offered by the Bill of Rights. Liberals always have stood up for the rights of the individual against both the government, businesses, and even other individuals. Even Bloomberg understands the basic concepts here.

I especially liked this part.

Think about the irony: In the 1950s, the right wing was attempting to repress left wing ideas. Today, on many college campuses, it is liberals trying to repress conservative ideas, even as conservative faculty members are at risk of becoming an endangered species. And perhaps nowhere is that more true than here in the Ivy League.
Bloomberg, at Harvard, blasts Ivy League ?liberals? for ?trying to repress conservative ideas?

If you can't listen to other people, actually listen to them, and debate their ideas on the merits, you don't even deserve the meager protections from the government that are all that is left of the Bill of Rights. If you think that it is permissible for anyone, for any reason, to make other people pay for having ideas, any ideas, you are the worst form of tyrant, and should be drug out in front of a brick wall and shot, without a fucking trial.

If a private person, or group of persons, or a private organization, or private society as a whole admonishes speech it finds to be offensive, that does not constitute a ‘violation’ of free speech, because private persons or private society lack the authority to enact laws prohibiting free speech and exact punitive measures against private individuals.

How is it not a violation of free speech, oh he has absolutely no court citations to back up his ridiculous argument?

Only when government seeks to punish those engaged in ‘prohibited speech’ is the right to free speech in jeopardy.

Funny, the law in California, among other places, disagrees.

http://www.courts.ca.gov/opinions/nonpub/F063775.PDF

What is that, an actual court citation that proves that free speech can actually be curtailed by a private party? Must be a fluke, I bet I can't find another example anywhere.

Google Scholar

Damn, I bet Jones feels confused right now.

Does this help?

http://www.trolp.org/main_pgs/issues/v16n2/Volokh.pdf

For example, should government make illegal the use of the word ‘******,’ where those found ‘guilty’ of using the word would be subject to fines and imprisonment, then that would constitute a free speech violation.

No, it would constitute a violation of the 1st Amendment.

But, please, keep showing us how stupid you are.

If, however, the word were used by a private citizen, in the context of private society, and private society as a whole shunned that individual and relegated him to that of a pariah, that would not be a free speech ‘violation,’ as the individual using the word would not be subject to punitive measures by the state.

Actually, it would, but I know you really don't understand the entire concept of rights.

Indeed, citizens are at liberty to use that and other equally offensive words free from retribution by the state, as we are in fact a free people and a free society.

I have a challenge for you @C_Clayton_Jones , give me some court citations that prove that free speech only exist in the way you define it. It shouldn't be hard, I gave you two specific cases, and an article containing others, where courts ruled that free speech can be infringed by non government agents. All you have to do is find the appeals of those cases where they were overturned.

Alternatively, you can come back and admit you were wrong.
