Where do you get the idea that paychecks would go up if Social Security was discontinued? Why would corporations suddenly raise wages?Medicare and Social Security continue on , and the GOP is a scared as ever to admit to really being against them in their stone hearts.
You're darn right I don't support social security and Medicare. If those programs didn't exist, paychecks would be about 25% higher for the average worker. People could plan for their own retirement. After all, we already have 401(k) and the IRA.
I happen to think that people make better decisions with THEIR money than the government does with OTHERS' money. This is a major philosophical difference between you and me, and it can't be bridged easily.
But yes, I think Social Security and Medicare shouldn't exist and should be phased out. There, I said it.
EDIT: Social Security and Medicare make people slaves to the state. I don't want bondage and slavery to the government. I want freedom and liberty. The Constitution means something to me; I don't know about you.
