GOP jobs agenda

With Republicans taking over Congress today, prepare to be dazzled with their jobs agenda. It is what we have been waiting six years for

In the new Congress, Republicans will have the majority in both the Senate and the House for the first time in eight years. As they get ready to take power, their rhetorical focus is clear: jobs, the economy, and more jobs.
So far, there are two main proposals on deck for the GOP. First, the Hire More Heroes Act, which would make it easier for small businesses that hire veterans to deny health care to their employees. Second, they want to immediately build the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that would transport oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast.
On their own, these are both extremely small-bore policies. But as a jobs agenda, this doesn't even rise to the level of pitiful. It's the latest evidence that Republicans continue to struggle with basic macroeconomics — and it does not bode well for the nation should they win the White House in 2016.

Sorry Republicans The Keystone XL pipeline is not a jobs agenda - The Week

Your forgetting all the jobs bills passed by the House that are sitting in the Senate that needs to be passed now that they have the majority.

Oh yes....I forgot all those "Kill Obamacare Jobs Bills"

I could provide a few dozen jobs bills that were passed by the House, but you would probably forget them.

You mean the "Force workers to work for minimum wage Jobs Bill"?

or the "End all Environmental Protections Jobs Bill"?

How about a link to either of those mythical bills.

Boehner 8217 s 8216 Bipartisan 8217 Bunk

how about it?

Republicans used to accept this framework, proposing a $713 billion government stimulus bill as recently as 2009. But they've since regressed intellectually to the pre–Great Depression era. The economic policy of the GOP today is almost indistinguishable from the days of Herbert Hoover and Andrew Mellon. Their platform is muddled on fiscal policy, proposing massive spending-side cuts coupled with large tax cuts for the rich — which in macro terms would cancel each other out. On monetary policy, they propose tighter money and reexamining the gold standard — which would slow the economy and throw people out of work. At best, it's a large net negative for workers.
After the colossal failure of Hoover, when the Republican Party was largely locked out of national politics for a generation, they learned that parties ignore the lessons of Keynes at their peril. But it seems they will have to learn them again — and if they win full power in 2016, it will be at everyone's expense.

Yeah, sure. Now suddenly the GOP/KKK care about vets and jobs.

Republicans shelve Obama s proposed Veterans Jobs Corps - Los Angeles Times

The measure had been on Obama’s to-do list for Congress, a modest set of initiatives aimed at boosting the nation’s sluggish economy that Republicans have largely rejected. The jobs bill would have hired veterans who served in the military since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to work on federal public lands projects and would have established a network of job training centers.

The jobless rate among those veterans was 10.9% in August, compared with a rate of 8.1 % in the broader population.

Rather than go out and get jobs for veterans, Republicans try a trivial accounting trick where vets don't count towards a companies 50 employee healthcare requirement

Lame......just plain lame

Alright. So A politician lied about minority support for bills. Who cares? Politicians lie everyday. They get paid to lie.

That said, I am after more of what is in the bills and how they may benefit the economy. Of course, RightWinger only started this thread to smear republicans like every other thread he starts sans the ones that praise Obama or a Democrat leader.

Those 'pitiful' efforts beat the hell out of anything the Democrats have offered for the last 6 years. BTW, is the Keystone XL pipeline going to build itself?

Democratic policies have generated 3 million jobs just this year

After complaining for six years about jobs, jobs jobs......The best the Republicans can come up with is Keystone and Hire more Heroes?

Pathetic....just pathetic

What were those policies?
Nothing much has been passed for the last 3 years.
More than half of the new jobs is part time.

with 300 job bills sitting on Reid's desk waiting to be signed, the New Congress should be able to pass them as fast as they can sign them ... don't hold your breath. This is where RW BS comes to the surface and floats or sinks to the bottom and rots ..

That is such bullshit and you know it. Once before some idiotic right winger went to the time and effort to post the names of the bills. But when you read the bill summery, it had nothing to do with the title. It's like calling "spy on you" the "Patriot Act".

Right wingers are so desperate for their leadership to do something, anything, they will believe anything. People who say government can't do anything will make sure government does nothing. Try to figure out why.

And you probably won't go to Thomas.gov and read the bills when they come up for a vote this year.

Just another federal jobs program that starts out small and becomes another huge bureaucracy. Veterans need real jobs in the private sector.

Seven million Americans are stuck in part-time jobs.
Overall U.S. unemployment has fallen steeply in the past year (from 7.2% in October 2013 to 5.8% in October 2014), but too many people can only find part-time positions.
The number of people working part-time involuntarily is more than 50% higher than when the recession began.

The Republican House and the anticipation of a Republican Senate to eliminate the Harry Reid pocket veto had more to do with jobs than anything the Democrats did.

For crying out loud....

Republicans have been whining about jobs for six years and they finally take control and this is the best they can lead off with?

Anything beats what the Democrats have been doing. Republicans have been passing job bills for Americans. That is not called whining.
You can't call cutting taxes for rich people a "job's bill". Even you know better.

Let me explain. If you had a thousand oranges and two apples and someone gave you another apple, you would have three apples. Or 50% more apples than what you had. But you would still have a thousand oranges. You wouldn't have 50% apples and 50% oranges.

The Keystone Pipeline will supply 40% of America's petroleum while significantly lifting our dependence for oil from all the lunatic Opec nations on planet earth. It isn't just an important project for commerce, it's a major consideration for America's national security.
