The country was devastated after 8 years of Bush.
The many scandals, Enron, Katrina, the Justice Department and so on.
Then there were the two unpaid for wars and Bush saying "Go shopping".
Then there was the Bush tax cuts the majority of which went to the wealthy.
Then there were thousands of Americans dead and the tens of thousands maimed for life from Iraq and the beginning of the massive unrest in the Middle East.
So Republicans feel their many, many failures and fiascoes were the reasons Obama was elected and decided they would sink the country even further.
The credit downgrades where Republicans got 98% of everything they wanted.
The extra 5 trillion in debt.
Signing a pledge they would never raise taxes, a master stroke of the very rich which dupes the Republican base and is not even constitutional. You don't go into office signing a pledge that overrides your "oath".
The promise to bring down the sitting president.
The lies.
Voter suppression.
All of these are even more damage added to what Republicans did during the Bush years. Completely trashing the country.
Has it all been for nothing? All the extra damage? Has the Republican strategy of "slash and burn" worked? Which of these men would have a more difficult time running a country Republicans have worked so hard to bring down to get rid of the first black president?
Barrack Obama?
Or
Thurston Howell III?
