keep hearing those in the media repeat the idea that governors make better presidential candidates. Yeah probably cause they know how to hand out the pork.

And they can pose as "outside Washington". This is the latest waddle by New Jersey porker Chris Christy. Is ANYONE fooled by this blow-hard? Christy exemplifies the bloat and corruption of Washington. Hes from probably one of the most corrupt states in the union. ...and hes going to straighten out Washington?....please

This truth, that governors know graft, should always be kept in mind when deciding on a presidential candidate. We have elected "outsider" governors time and time again,....and nothing changes in Washington. Governors are more corrupt cause they oversee contracts,,..candy, and this is the "talent" that talking heads seem to look the other way on.

Getting desperate, are we?

A Republican Governor WILL be the next president with a GOP majority House AND Senate.

That would be too bad for those that want to rein in the federal budget......governors dont know anything but graft.....................and Republican governors are just as bad as Democratic ones

If this were true, then why are TX and ND spending way less and doing much better economically than liberal havens like CA, IL, and NY?

ND has a lot of oil revenues right now, TX hit its economic low before most other states....and has more of a tax base to blow on crooked "economic development"

Didnt say there wasnt regional differences,...I think generally larger states are more corrupt than smaller, but a recent study has ND as one of the 5 most corrupt states in the union.

right now Steve "Cornball" Kornacke on MSNBC is trotting out the tired old idea that Governors are better runners for president.

Shows like his need to report more on the graft and corruption at the state level instead of droning on-and-on about Washington, and then perhaps the population at large would not be fooled by governors posing as "outside washington corruption"

ND was given its corruption ranking for the Indian reservations, which are solidly Democrat.

Anyways, you have to admit GOP policies are better. Texas has NO STATE INCOME TAX. That's far more conducive to economic growth than the policies of say, New York, California, or Illinois. Freedom in the 50 States 2013 | Fiscal Freedom | Mercatus Center
Red states have far more economic freedom on average than blue states(the few exceptions of red states having low economic freedom are constantly heralded by the left as proof conservative policies don't work[LA and MS specifically]; these states have a lot of catching up to do because of all the bad policies instituted by Dems when they were in control of these states).

That was NOT the reason ND was given its poor rating. It had to do with open records transparency, prosecutions, etc. The reservations did perhaps contributed to it.

TX subsidizes businesses on a massive scale. Perry brags about it. Its pathetic, and certainly not needed if you think no income tax is better.

California at least stopped one of the most gimmicky of the subsidies usually resorted to by hacks of both partys, the TIF gimmick. Tax increment financing is a subsidy, grift, for developers that is pushing property taxes up for citizens thoughout the whole rest of the US.

Saw yesterday that New Jersey has legalized online gambling. I wonder how much Christy got from gambling interests in his run for governor. Maybe this is a contributing factor on why the Democratic party big-wigs rolled over for him too.
