Greatest thread to human civilization : capitalist greed - Stephen Hawkin

“If machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed.” Hawking continued, “Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality."

Idiots. It is amazing how some of the smartest people can be so dumb.
Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than anything else. IT's benefits are literally without precedence.

Opportunity is what allows Capitalism to lift people out of poverty, exploitation by Capitalists creates income inequality and social unrest; it is why Capitalists need to be regulated by a government elected by the people.

Today, do to both Citizens United rulings, and the greed of the mass media, elected officials are purchased by the wealthy and govern for the wealthy.

Simple minds never take the long view, and Rabbi is one of the simplest minds around.
Hmm, capitalism creates social unrest? I dont think so. Compare socialist countries in Africa, the Middle East, and SOuth America to capitalist countries in Asia and your statement is, typically for you, dead wrong.
As for income inequality, do you think there are more equal incomes under feudalism? Or under Communism? Are people better off under those systems? Even socialism. Are people better off under socialism in Greece and Venezuela?

Misty...how do you know the computer that 'speaks' for him was not hacked, and that was not even HIS 'words'. Maybe he is rolling around, completely P.O.ed because someone has hacked his computer and is saying all kinds of stupid stuff to make him look bad / as a joke?! :p

(I am JUST KIDDING....and yes, I know...I am probably going to hell for that. :p)
I know exactly what you mean. Before he had the computer voice he had an interrupter. So you're correct. We don't know if anything he says really comes from him.

we must have gotten more capitalistic since Progressives started governing us; because income inequality has exploded on their watch; growing AT A FASTER PACE THAN IT WAS UNDER "GREEDY" RIGHT-WINGERS

libs are losers who lie to themselves

Maybe Rabbi is not the simplest mind around?

The rich get richer, and the rest do not, most fall behind. That has been true since the 1981 election. Progressives support a progressive income tax, and taxes are anathema to the current crop of Republicans.

Democrats have been branded as the party of Tax and Spend. What has proven to be much worse is the don't tax and spend Republicans.

Look up how much money was spent on the war of choice in Iraq, how much has the majority in the H. or Rep. spent on politically motivated investigations since Boehner became speaker?
Wrong, as usual. Do you honestly know anyone working who is poorer today than he was in 1981? In 1981 only the very richest had cell phones, computers, and VCRs. Today everyone has those things or their equivalent. Capitalism, son.

Lol he's rich. It easy for the rich to say "oh I'm rich but you shouldn't be rich."

Stephen Hawking has an estimated net worth of $20 million.

Lots of good that does him, what do ya think he is going to buy an ounce of coke and hop over to the bunny ranch?
It doesn't matter. He's rich telling others to not be rich and yes I'm sure it has improved the quality of his pathetic life.

"Stephen Hawking has since published a rebuttal to his critics, insisting that “Intelligent design” doesn’t in any way prove that God exists, but only that a “God-like force” played a role in the creation of our Universe, approximately 13.8 billion years ago."

Stephen Hawking Admits Intelligent Design Is 'Highly Probable'

He believes in intelligent design science people. A god like force that isn't god lol. He believes in god but critics have forced him to say a god like force.

And before you rip my source I have heard him say this through his computer voice.

Well, what do you know? He has swallowed a bit of his pride. Even Dawkins has shown cracks.

When Hawking stops telling us how to greet space aliens I will stop being so mean-spirited. That's my problem.

Science thinks far too highly of itself.

Steven Hawking isn't accounting for the broadening availability of these machines, the education to make personal use of them nor the freedom to operate them. This is almost exclusive to capitalist environments, of course.

If machines produce everything we need... only those aspiring to wealth need to worry about the wealth machines produce. In 'want' economies like ours, greed is a matter of wanting more than people are willing to give you, then breaking (or creating) rules to take it in an unjust way. Lobbying for government distribution of wealth is more greedy than lobbying against it.

True. Polluters are the aliens who put profit well before our posterity. And who are the Polluters? Anti Regulation Capitalists off course.

Nice ATTEMPT to spin it, but Hawkins is actually talking about 'little green men', not failed 'little green energy companies'.

I don't know what Hawkins meant since there is no context / primary source for me to read.

The little green (aka wealth obsessed) men I referenced are human beings who pollute our air, water and soil for profit, or vote for those who represent polluters by their voting record as members of The Congress.
Please name these people. Shouldn't be hard, right? Who is getting rich by polluting anything? You cant name a single person or point to a signle example.

You can be as mean spirited as you want. I'm just pointing out to the science freaks that hawkings believes in a God.

They won't believe a thing he says once they know that. Lol.

Look how they rip Carson for believing in God.

He's right. Centuries ago this time period was envisioned to be a time of lesuire, and it could be so much nicer for us, but instead of creating beautiful gardens I had to spend my time paying the banks for the land.

we are being seriously wroughted and for No reason other than idiot greed box's need for status.

its really something I was always frustrated about. Why all the drudgery?
I know work is good but does it have to be soul destroying? No, it doesn't.

"so much nicer for us". Are you advocating that those who have succeeded be forced to give up more of it so those who chose to buy land have it paid for by someone else?
Nope, I'm advocating that we hang all Usurers. So the opposite of what you are claiming.

I'm advocating that life should not be one wit harder than it has to be, given all the labour saving devices we've invented.

You can go first. Ever gotten interest on a savings account? You're a usurer.

Think the greatest threat is resignation. Believing we're powerless to do anything.

President Josiah Bartlet: There's a promise that I ask everyone who works here to make: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Do you know why?

Will Bailey: Because it's the only thing that ever has.

Hire a maid, problem solved!
I don't have a problem with work. I have a problem with slavery. How will hiring a maid save me from slavery?
Slavery is having to work for a living? Who's supposed to pay your way? You can work part time if you want and live smaller. It's called choice.

If it weren't for capitalized greed Stephen Hawking wouldn't have all of his scientific play toys and he might not even be alive at this point.

Im a woman.

Gee, shocked I say.

YAWN
another completely moronic thread brought to you by the deluded Left.
In the history of the planet who has butchered more, governments or corporations??
Probably govenrnments, but that's irrelevant.

Redistribution can be achieved in other ways. Do you donate to some cause or causes ?

Well , in that case he is speaking from experience. If he was poor you would probably say he speaks out of rancor.
