Guess How Many Troops Obama Just Authorized 2B Deployed to Iraq?? Sound Familiar, LOL?

If only Bush had listened....

What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income — to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics. Now let me be clear — I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity. He's a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him.

But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history. I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences

Barack Obama Oct 2 2002

That sound like he thought Saddam was junior varsity, just like ISIS.

About that. Neither is a significant threat to the US

That isn't what the Sec of Defense said, but I am sure you know more than he does.

"The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is beyond "just a terrorist group" and poses a greater threat than al Qaeda, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Thursday.

"This is beyond anything that we've seen," he said during a briefing on Thursday afternoon about the Sunni militant group that has taken over territory in Iraq and Syria and earlier this week beheaded American journalist James Foley.

"ISIL is as sophisticated and well-funded as any group that we have seen," Hagel said, using another acronym for the group. "They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded."

"So we must prepare for everything. And the only way you do that is that you take a cold, steely, hard look at it ... and get ready," he said.

Hagel's remarks come months after President Obama dismissed ISIS, calling the group "JV".

A threat to Iraq and Syria

Not our problem

Then why is Obama doubling the number of troops in Iraq?
He is an idiot to get sucked back in

Obama had to respond to ISIS pillaging, raping and murdering their way across Iraq when media outside his control was reporting the carnage and he couldn't cover it up anymore at cocktail parties.

Obama is responsible for the "War on Women (and girls)" in Iraq and Syria by these terrorist goons.

I see Jake is jumping to conclusions;)

Never said anything about Nam,never said where I was.

I won't tell you where it was, but it isn't that hard to figure it out.'

Poor Jake, nobody is threatening you and you aren't stupid enough (I don't think) to put yourself in a position through stupid actions to get yourself hurt

Ah, I see you got slapped. Good. Bark all you want, your bite is toothless.

You can't slap me pops, I own your ass.

sure thing, pops

Then why is Obama doubling the number of troops in Iraq?
Specifically, allegedly to train 9 new Iraqi Army brigades and 2 Peshmerga brigades. In addition, 2 Operation centers, one dedicated to Anbar Province.

You seem to have the answers, so here are a few more questions.

Why would he do that? Everybody knows that ISIS is not an imminent threat to the US. What happens if an American soldier is captured by ISIS and publicly beheaded? What happens if an American soldier is arrested and imprisoned by the Afghans for committing a crime while off duty? I thought we pulled ALL the troops out of Afghanistan because we didn't have a SOFA. Did Obama finally get one, or was that just BS from the start?

Obama had to respond to ISIS pillaging, raping and murdering their way across Iraq....

What was the response supposed to be and how immediate?

IS terrorists did not form a visible military force, fly their flags and then advance on Mosul and Tikrit etc. They infiltrated Sunni areas of Iraq by slipping in among the women and children to fight alongside Iraqi Sunni men who were fighting the Maliki led Shiite government. Then they turned on their hosts and declared for themselves to be the the new enforcers of barbaric sharia law over their hosts.

Now that you have been informed, try explaining a military option for a US president to effectively stop IS terrorists from committing their atrocities and crimes in the way that they did? What can you tell me?

...only history will define their correctness.

Why do you complain and bitch so much about Obama then? Is it your tribal instinct and your lizard brain controlling your thought process?

I can hardly wait for two years from now when people are knee deep in recession again, facing still greater social cutbacks and looking at endless warfare and the Right won't be able to blame Obama because they now have the majorities.

Is there anyone out there on the Obama hater side responsible for keeping TooTall informed? Obama got a new ten year SOFA approved in Afghanistan that will be good through 2024. I have a thread where I questioned why Bush couldn't negotiate a ten year SOFA deal in Iraq back in 2008? Why did Bush settle for a measly three year deal when he was forced by Maliki to acquire a new deal?

Bush wanted to give Obabble some chance/room to negotiate. Bush was always too trusting of assholes.

This President is fucking retarded. Holy shit. Should have sent in 100,000 troops plus air power and send these isis fuckers to hell in a matter of 2 weeks, which is all it would take with some American casualties. Attack them from the north and south and corner them into the center then drop a bunker buster bomb or two right on them.
Corner them in the center?
Baghdad. Then bomb the hell out of it and leave on the best note of all time.

Can't have it both ways, far righty subversives.

Either you support our troops now and the Iraqis, or you are exposed as the simple minded fool fanatics you are.

to train, advise and assist Iraqi security forces,
Isn't this what the US military was supposedly doing for the past 12 plus years?
Either the Iraqi military is beyond stupid or the US military makes lousy teachers.
asking Congress for $5.6 billion
Really $5.6 billion for what exactly, if they are only there to train and advise?
Books and Operation Manuals? Someone is lying!
As I said yesterday and Gary Bernsten reiterated this morning on fox...the Iraqis should pay for these services.

Agree 100%, why are we paying for it?
Probably to give Obabble money to divert to keep our borders secure.
I wouldn't authorize nothing for Obama and his minions at this point in history, because he would definitley divert it big time I think, and it wouldn't be where anyone would like to see that money go either.

P.S. I think the climate change thing is a way to extort money also with this crowd.

Wait till that arctic blast comes roaring down into the nation, then ask these warmers what do they think about that when their tales are freezing off.

all over the map..you change the subject with every post...chase your tail...

And what of Libya, Syria, Egypt, Ukraine,

Iraq.......5000 US dead
Libya.......0 dead
Syria........0 dead
Egypt.......0 dead
Ukraine.....0 dead

I like Obamas policy better

OK, Iraq = Liberated, and a dictator that was a huge menace to the middle east society at large is now gone. His son's who were also a terror are GONE. His idiot cabinet who would follow him straight into Hell like Hitlers followers did him are GONE.

OK, Libya = a dangerous place that got our ambassador there killed, along with others who couldn't get the help needed by this administration that had left these men behind.

OK, Syria = currently at war, hundreds of thousands dead, and no end in sight.

OK, Egypt = Tried it Obumblers way, but then had to arrest the Muslim brotherhood President and his ilk, even as Obumbler and is gang protested this action in which it had taken against the bru-tha hood.

OK, Ukraine = A notable demonstration that Obumbler has no influence on Russia, and on the stopping of Russia's actions in that country whether it be through negotiations or diplomatic efforts. His cozening up to Putin on the supposedly closed microphone makes him a laughing stock now and/or untrustworthy to us here in this nation all because of.
