Half of Americans Believe God Will Decide the Superbowl Winner | Alternet

Some highlights from the survey include:

One-in-four (25%) Americans who report being a fan of a particular team believe that their team has been cursed at some point in time.

Roughly 1-in-5 (21%) American sports fans report performing a ritual before or while watching their favorite team.
...

So are truly faithful NFL players rewarded with success on the field? Football is a data driven pursuit, so let’s breakdown the stats:

The Broncos and Seahawks teams have an equal number of Christians.

50% of all NFL players playing on Sunday will win the Super Bowl.

In conclusion, the number of rewarded NFL players on Sunday will be exactly equal to the number of unrewarded NFL players on Sunday.

So are truly faithful NFL players rewarded off the field? Let’s breakdown the numbers:

The average life expectancy of the American male is 78 years.

The NFL players association says the average life expectancy of an NFL player is 58 years old.

The suicide rate of NFL players is 6-times the national average.

...Prayer and football are considered traditional American values, (it’s a pity education and ending poverty is not), and that’s the problem. The problem being that when prayer is synonymous with football, and by extension America, then, by inference, to not engage in football related religious rituals becomes un-American itself, and that would really piss off the Founding Fathers.

Boggles the mind.

Lol...Americans aren't that smart as a whole...I didn't need that poll to tell me that..if they were smart they would vote for someone other than the 2 party tyranny every 4 years. Its just as silly as thanking god for saving someone's life when it was the doctors and nurses that did that.

Or when people thank God for arriving home safely during a bad snow storm. You just drove carefully. Give yourself some fucking credit.

So much for dumb shits reasoning ability.

From the article:

b. God plays a role in determining which team wins a sporting event
10 Completely agree
12 Mostly agree
21 Mostly disagree
54 Completely disagree
3 Don’t know/Refused (VOL.)
100 Total

Is it really half? Because you have to consider the fact that not everyone is even interested in football. :D :D :D

God bless you always!!! :) :) :)

I don't believe God has a favorite, IMO She blessed Washington and Colorado for making Her creation of Marijuana legal.

Total misunderstanding of the poll responses:

Q: Who do you believe will win The Super Bowl?

A: (with eye-roll) "God only knows and I really don't give a shit"

Pollster seizes on the first word of response and moves along.

That's where the 50% comes from.

Dude, can you just stop? Let me guess, as a liberal you hate football because it isn't sophisticated art gallery mocha latte stuff. But if you think believing in god is stupid, then taking it the rear without a condom is smart? Come on. Lots of people do stupid stuff, at least this is harmless.

Believing in god is not harmless. It leads usually smart people to do really stupid things...

If 80% of American people could read your inane bullshit then they'd agree that your IQ is less than the mean of the Congo.
